It will be interesting to see the rates for Asians in 20 years.

Fast Food is a big issue. Other countries are following in our footsteps.
ie., people being lazy as shit.

Sat on a flight this week, United Airlines, the free snack was some kind of flattened Waffle cone with a thick maple glaze on it. Absolutely delicious but had 10 grams of sugar. The guy next to me had that, plus two cokes throughout the flight, plus some Keebler crackers with peanut butter. That's basically like 2 days worth of sugar right there.

I'm not obese, I just like to be prepared for the possible event that I can't eat for several days, so I just store extra food in my body in the form of fat.

My BMI is 23.6. A little on the high side I guess. 😛 I'm at 146lbs now. When I start to hit 155 is when I start to worry more and start actually watching what I eat.

To be be fair people have always been lazy, I mean why work harder than you have to? The kind of thing thats ingrained into us minimal effort for the most reward. Its the plentiful food on top of the ability to be lazy in this new age thats killing us. People forget only 100 years ago life wasn't anywhere near as easy as it is today. It sure is funny to watch people cry about how hard life is though.

I believe that number. The talk about a coming diabetes crisis is probably correct.

I personally attribute it to the ubiquity of sugar, particularly in HFS form, and a lack of physical activity. The people who statistically live the longest are found in Okinawa and certain Mediterranean islands. In both cases people engage in regular physical work and have diets that are far, far different than those founds in America. High veg, low/lean meat intake. We do it the other way around, then go crazy with sugar and salt.

Holy crap. I'm 6'1" or 6'2" and my lean body mass at last measure was ~170lbs and I'm way out of shape. I found a website (http://height-weight-chart.com/ It's not behaving nicely with Chome and ABP, so I don't know how safe it is) which shows pictures of people at different heights and weights. Here's a 6'1" 130lb woman:

A 130lb man would be super thin.
Looking over that site, I find tall people hide weight better. 6'5" 300# doesn't look as big as I'd expect. People say I'm skinny, but I weigh more than I should. I'd like to be an even 200#, cause even numbers rock.

I used to keep track of my weight with pictures and the lightest I ever got while doing that was 220lbs:

I can't imagine being 90 pounds lighter than in that pic.

To live a longer healthier life? It's pretty obvious as to why you would want to eat healthy foods.

That's about what I look like. I don't have any full body pictures; not sure I'd want to post them if I did :^P

I'm right around 225, and the extra crap is around my stomach, which is probably the worst place for it. I don't do exercise. Work without purpose is boring, and I get enough of it at the job. I wish my back wasn't trashed. I'd love to get back into whitewater paddling. Great exercise, and super fun. Been thinking about trying rowing. I got a canoe at the thrift shop years ago, and it's a slug in the water. It's made more to be a stable platform for fishing, and stuff like that. It has sockets for oarlocks though, and oars would get it moving. No better for my back, but there's less danger of getting stuck in remote locations, or dangerous situations if it goes out.

Yeah tall people do seem to hide weight well, I had a coworker who was rather tall and fairly slim and he was like over 200lbs+ but would never have guessed that. I can't even imagine myself being 200lbs.

We had a blood drive at work the other day and I told the lady I was 230lbs and she didn't believe me. I don't know if she was just being nice (or flirty), or if it's really that surprising. If I really hit the weights, I think I could bulk up well.

I'm 5' 10", was 225 lb a few years ago. Around 173 now, though it fluctuates by a lb or two. Should be 170 in a few weeks as I'm trying to bring down my body fat.

This country needs more widespread nutrition and excercise education. People aren't aware of how their decisions can affect their health and lifestyle years later.

Do kids still have mandatory gym and recess time? Every kid needs some quality kickball time.

Uh, he's a 16 y.o. boy.

300 at 6'5"...nope all day long. I still want pics of you smelling the flowers. PM me an address and I'll send you tobacco.

I was like 105-110 throughout high school and college and even when I first started working full time. Maybe 115 at most. Oddly joining the gym for a few years helped me gain weight as not only did I gain some muscle mass but it also gave me a bigger appetite. I'm around 5'6" though.

A double cheese with french fries and a coke can easily top 1000 calories. Add all the snacking junk food that people munch on during the day - juices, soda, candy, chips, ice cream, lattes, and that easily pushes you over 2000 calories. -snip- This exercise is the only thing that allows me to have some chips and soda or a small bar of ice cream once a week.
I gave all that up long ago. I have a few small indulgences but I draw the line, know when to stop, have a strict limitation. Snacking is bad mojo. In general, only eat when you're hungry and eat healthy.

You don't have to sell me on it. I already eat pretty healthy or atleast a lot healthy than I did when I was younger. I do need to get back to working out. I try my best not to be too lazy, I have a physical job so at least I'm not stuck in a cubicle all day. I'm about 190lbs at 6 foot so overweight but not obese. I'd like to get down to about 165 I'm working on quitting my ridiculous beer habit that should help a lot if I don't eat more to make up for it.
