Why didn't they drop the Arcade or at the very least have it include a 20GB?
Seems like a missed opportunity on their part...

My local Target didn't have the new pricing, at least not on the stickers. *shrugs*Originally posted by: mode101wpb
Target has them on price cut already, $249 for the Pro and $299 for the Elite both were the old box art and since Target keeps them behind glass I didn't have a chance to peak at the power rating.

With the PS3 the same price as the 360 now, the 360 isn't looking like such a great deal any more.
Agreed. PS3 is now the best value if you have an HDTV. Blu-ray + games + built-in wifi for $299 =
Yep. With the PS3 at $299.99, the 360 Elite should be at at least $249.99 in order for them to be comparable values. The question is, can MS afford that kind of a price cut?

What did you expect the spokesperson to say? "Bend over, because we're enjoying screwing you for all you're worth?" It's a dumb reason and everyone knows it, including Microsoft corporate. But there are certain forms to be followed in the PR business, and so a "customer-centric reason" is spouted off, however inane it is.Originally posted by: Industrial
The MS PR guy sure said said all the right PR stuff that the general audience would take as gospel. I know most tv advertisers dumb down their ads to 5th grade level, but man, it's pretty insulting to read all that.

People who buy the Elites don't use the HDMI cable? I'm calling BS on that. 80% of the people I know personally has their 360 hooked up by HDMI. A few of them are Elite owners. Whether you want to argue that they are not all Elite owners, that's pointless, as it's 360 owners that I know is using the HDMI. And if you are getting the top of the line unit, you most likely have relatively top of the line equipment like TVs because you can afford it. So of course you're going to hook it up by HDMI.
The buyers who buy the Arcade, most don't get a HDD? I'm more likely to think they don't, but it can't be that low. And when the Arcade was released, it did increase their monthly sales by a good portion, unlike what the MS guy said. I think most people just swapped out their old HDD from their broken or repaired 360. And all my friends who bought an Arcade all got a HDD later. So again, what a bunch of BS he said. I know a few here who didn't buy a HDD yet, but still plan to.

That's really unlikely. Blu Ray and built in wifi will never make up for the significantly worse game selection. Not to mention the significantly different online experience each console offers.

ps3 and xbox360 share probably 75% of the same game selection (yes that # is made up).
but IMO, exclusives on PS3 > exclusives on Xbox360 (console exclusives, so i'm counting Gears and Mass Effect and all that jazz as a 360 exclusive).

HDMI cables are cheap anyway. So what if the general public doesn't know about monoprice....I do, and that's all that matters.
Considering that these retailers make like nothing off the consoles, I'm not sure I'd call it a conspiracy so much as "obvious fact". 🙂Originally posted by: Yreka
Its a giant conspiracy headed up by Best Buy and Wal-Mart. They strong arm the MFG to pull cables so they can sell the ultra high margin accessories *shiftyeyes*
