as soon as you drive your new bmw or g35 off the lot imagine yourself flushing 100 $100 bills down the toilet...cuz thats precisely what your doing.

but if you must have the mighty status symbol that is a new car....i'd got with tha g35 .......cuz if you gonna have a bimmer then you gotta start at a 5 series or higher.

Read the whole thread before replying. I said it isn't for me. BTW, the guy who DID buy the G35C wants to buy a co-op in 6 months. I was thinking to myself, well, if you didn't just buy a $40k car, you can probably buy your co-op NOW. Oh, he's selling his 2001 Toyota Echo for $7200 if anybody's interested, heh.

What Nissan model is the G35 a rebadged version of?

Or are you saying something along the lines of : Infinity = Nissan as Lexus = Toyota as Acura = Honda?

G35 = Altima
G35C = 350Z

The G35 is the same quality as an Altima? :p

The G35 and Altima have nothing in common, other than versions of the same V6. The Altima is built on the "FF-L" front-wheel drive platform (shared with the Quest, Murano, and Maxima). The G35, in both sedan and coupe form, is built on the "FM" platform shared with the 350Z, FX, and the upcoming M45.

I would prefer the G35 because I simply think that it is a better vehicle but also I see 3 series BMWs all over the place. 3 Series BMWs are more for badge buyers that simply want a BMW so they can say they have a BMW - with the exception of the M3 of course.

I always thought of Infiniti's having poor build quality considering they are Nissans. Am I wrong or have they gotten better?

Also I see a difference between paying more and getting a true luxury coupe or something that's off the same assembly line as an Altima/350z and sharing the same parts with the Nissan label.
Infiniti's quality, both initial and long-term, is excellent. They actually slipped slightly in initial quality this year (probably because of a flurry of all-new products), but they're still very good, much better than Nissan (which, of course, has had many new products as well), and better than BMW as well. Some people attribute this to the fact that most Infiniti vehicles are still assembled in Japan whereas Nissan has shifted much of their production to U.S. plants. Also, their dealership satisfaction ratings are among the best in the industry.

Empirically, I have a friend with a G35 sedan which has had zero problems. I also have a friend who has a 330Ci. The Bimmer's interior seems nicer, but he has had some problems with trim pieces falling off and other minor issues. Both of them love their cars. I've driven both and I did like the 330 more, but the G35 was also an excellent vehicle.

I have owned BMW's for the last 16 years. I'd stick with their engineering and upgradeability/modableness.

G35s are getting to be more than a fad out by me....I see more g35s than I do BMWs as of lately

why would anyone buy a G35.. it's a rebadged Nissan and ugly to boot.

Because it's a Nissan and not a German car for one.

That is not an argument in favor of buying something.

It's a good reason though. :D

Not quite. German cars are sweet, Japanese electronics rock.

Aside from the M3 those sissy 3 series are for women. The G35C is the right choice.

It is not a rebadged Altima.

You're thinking of the G35C, plus it's still a 350Z + a backseat.
G35 has different interior, exterior, body from 350Z. They do have a common platform, such as engine, transmission, and suspension components. I don't see what the problem with that is. By your logic, Acura MDX is just an Oddysey with bigger ground clearance.
Click on that link. Both G35 sedan and G35 coupe are called Nissan Skyline in Japan.
Longitudonally mounted V6 with RWD. Altima is transversely mounted V6 FWD.
FM Platform: G35, G35C, FX35, FX45, upcoming M45
FF? platform: Altima, Quest, Murano, Maxima
Capiche?

I just bought a G35 coupe and I get more bang for my money.

BMW are over priced cars and maintenance is just so expensive...but I'll get the M3 if I have the money to spare.

Infiniti service and warranty are superb...I get free brake maintenance for 3 years or 36,000 miles whichever comes first.

Drove this car long distance fm LA to SFO and it would just be steady at 80 to 90 mph, no sweat...280 horses baby! Love to upgrade it with after market stuff later on.:)

I think as far as drivetrain, they are tied. As far as looks, each has it's fans so also a tie.
Interior goes to the Bimmer, but the price goes to the G35. And it just so happens that the 330i's interior is not $10K better than G35's. Additionally G35 is going to be more reliable and cheaper to maintain, since the engine is used in almost every Nissan car now, and is extremely reliable engine. It has been on ward's 10 best since it came out in 1994 on the 1995 Nissan Maxima.
So G35c is a much better car in terms of what you are getting for the money, though the 330i is slightly better car if money is no object.
