"Passion" and "soul" matter for your own car, for a race car it doesn't. Its purpose is not to be attractive, it is to go faster than the other guy.

That's not what I mean, you moron. I am referring to the engine. Their turbo diesel sucks. The design of their cars could definitely be better, though.

Yes. It's the most bland racing car I have ever seen, in every sense of the word.

My point still stands though, soul and passion don't matter in a race car. The whole point is to go faster than the other guy.

The fact that horsepower is considerably down in comparison to the older engines and, to a smaller degree, that it's silent. The older engine in the R15 TDI sucked, but this just takes it to a higher level. It's now a 3.7L V6 with a single turbocharger instead of a 5.5L V10 with twin turbochargers which lowered horsepower from 590 HP to 540 HP. Torque should've gone down considerably as well.

Hopefully they hit reliability snags.

That would be a problem with the organization making the rules, not Audi.

The regulations suck and, by extension, so does the engine. Your argument doesn't change anything: whether it was Audi's fault or that of the regulators, the new engine sucks.

First, they put more restrictions on the gas powered cars to the point where the diesels had a very good advantage. Then, because of the (understandable) outrage of most, they tried to put them on par, but in the completely wrong way. Instead of lowering restrictions for the gas powered cars so they could have the option of higher power output, they raise restrictions on the diesels.

It's hopeless to even discuss this with you. All you can come up with as counterarguments are stupid one-liners.

And you don't seem to understand my point. Do you understand why race cars in general have restrictions on their design? Not the Le Mans cars, but cars for any race series.

I do. I don't have a problem with the diesel engines. I just have a problem with Audi's implementation.

Diesel engines obviously have a fuel efficiency and torque advantage in comparison to the normal petrol cars, but they're being gimped too much. The horsepower output on the R15 TDI was low as-is.
