They should have made it a 30k truck with more features basically. That's still a great price.
Yeah the North American market has all ready spoken and we want 4 door trucks. The Slate is a niche vehicle at best and Ford has already done it better with the Maverick. But if it "costs" them nothing to selling a $25k stripper, that's not a bad thing either.
Ultimately I do think the lack of 4 doors will turn off a lot of people.
Personally I dig it.

I'd drive that!
My hunch is there will be a bunch of those high end trucks coming out of California if the fuel cost predictions pan out.Yeah the North American market has all ready spoken and we want 4 door trucks. The Slate is a niche vehicle at best and Ford has already done it better with the Maverick.
You can get a hybrid with better fuel economy and longer range for around the same price. Plus you get things like power windows, power locks, power mirrors, Sync4, and so much more.

Sounds like you need an F350 crew cab diesel dually 4x4.Wankpanzer. There's a lot I like about the Slate. It just needs to be a bit /more/. A little bigger, and a little more payload. I'd also like an an extended cab, but I could probably live with a standard if the bed were bigger.
What will be a bigger failure?
