Gotta love the shit Lincoln project puts out.
The reason the Republicans are so pissed off is because they know it's true. They want to take away Social Security and medicare from every American. Not privatize, take it away. And not pay back what's already been paid in.
So if you're a 50-something like me who's been paying the max (or near the max) into Social Security their whole working life, the Republican agenda is to retroactively increase your taxes by hundreds of thousands of dollars.
And this massive govt theft of the taxpayers, probably the largest in history, is what Republicans want Americans to believe is "fighting socialism."

And big props to FDR for making SS happen. I still don't understand why there is a cap on earnings. As soon as you make ~$128000 you no longer have to contribute. That's horseshit.

That’s not correct. While there is a cap it increases. Last year it was 147,000
I agree. There should be no cap on social security contributions, and I am someone who makes beyond that level. (Although not by a lot)

New York Post ran a blatant lie claiming Republicans didn’t want to sunset Social Security and Medicare

Right wing media are flooding the zone with lies to further brainwash their people

Of course, they are attempting some damage control. They basically got called out on national TeeVee. There need to be more of this.

Now I’m looking forward to all the Republicans talking about how “divisive” Biden was, despite STILL promoting bipartisanship to get things done throughout his speech, while Huckabee’s little rant wasn’t much more than “Biden hates us, hates you, hates the United States, hates freedom!.”
and then the whole “Woke Mob” grift. Fuck!. that was hard to watch.

The Republicans should be embarrassed putting Sanders up there with THAT rebuttal. There was absolutely no substance to that response what so ever. The ‘response’ is 20-30 minutes of time for the opposition - if they want to lay out their vision. They did NOTHING of the sort. Instead, it was a MAGA fan wank. Thank you, Ms Sanders, for the good laffs. We are all dumber for having heard your “rebuttal”. Huckbee just reiterated all the usual "the Democrats hate you, and the country is going down the shitter", with a complete “Fuck you all!” tone.

SOTU: “We all want to make this country a better place for everyone”

Rebuttal: “Fuck you, no we don’t.”

This is the Republican playbook: If a Republican voter already thinks Biden is the problem, but then his speech and goals sound smart and reasonable, they need a Huckabee Sanders to come along and play dumb to remind them that Biden is the worst president ever with all the dumbed down talking points. No vision, no sane rebuttal on the issues. It's all they got anymore.

My problem is that it was not even a rebuttal. If felt like a pre-recorded video written before they had any idea what Biden was going to address in his speech. It was generic and didn't address anything from Biden's SOTU. A graphic with a few generic GOP talking points in bullet form would have been more informative.

How soon before @FelixDeCat comes here and claims Biden lied when he said some Republicans are planning to "sunset Social Security"?

Continuing that streak of honesty

So much video out there of them talking to donors, etc. Going to have to do a lot of gaslighting work to fix their "image".

Also Sarah Huckabee Sanders doing the Republican rebuttal speech. Wonder how many lies she’ll say?
All of them.
Bannon and Dobbs weren't impressed.

“To not mention his name, to talk about ‘new leadership'” was a clear message that she was aligning herself with Ron DeSantis, according to Dobbs.

Bannon agreed, saying “it was an insult to President Trump” and that Sanders “would not exist politically if it weren’t for President Trump.”

“If you’re going to give a counter speech, you’ve got to talk about important issues,” Bannon said. “Don’t get me wrong, the wokeism is very important. But it’s not quite the heart of the matter right now, right? It’s not the heart of the matter. She is not — the reason is she’s just not — she’s not intellectually capable of going to the heart of the matter, let’s be blunt.”

They'll just go back to bleating their racist shit and Americans will forget about the rampant evidence of Republicans openly saying they want to destroy social programs. And old people will cheer them on, and McCain isn't around to sorta prevent it this time with a personal vendetta spite vote, with Sineama too much of a cheap whore to even do that to try and pretend she's the Modern Maverick.

If it happens, it will directly kill my Mom as she'll be without health insurance and there won't be any way she'll be able to afford her medicine. I tried to get her to vote but she wouldn't.

Ok, Bannon, let's go ahead and get to the heart of the matter for you, and I think you're wrong. she'd absolutely support your Nazi plans. Sure she won't openly call it what it is, but she'll support it every which way she can, all the while giving that vacant stare at two points on the horizon.

Thinking about it, if Joe does run again, which it looks like he will (kinda wish he wouldn't) he then NEEDS to be blunt and feisty and directly call out the 'Pubs lies and racism and craven support of the 1% in the saltiest language possible.

Think Harry Truman in 1948. "Give 'em hell, Harry." His approval ratings were in the tank at least as badly as Joe's are now. Nobody thought he would win. But he did, mostly, methinks, by being his crotchedly blunt self. "The buck stops here."

More than ever before, this is the era of the sound bite. If Joe runs, he needs to take it to the 'Pubs with both barrels blasting, calling them out in no uncertain terms.
