“If we’re really gonna honest about this – and I consider myself pro-life, but I understand that’s not where the country is – I would say first trimester, 15 weeks seems to be where the country is,” host Sean Hannity said Tuesday night

He still doesn't get it. Know where the country is? The rules of Roe. Pubs still can't admit it.

Republicans trying to bargain with themselves about some way to mitigate the ongoing political disaster of Dobbs are amusing. A huge chunk of their voting bloc wants absolutely no compromise on this, unfortunately for them this is an enormously unpopular stance. They're painted into a corner with no means of escape.

And the new darling of the GOP, Lumpkin, I mean Youngkin, had a very bad night. And, other major signs, that current polling seems to have no clue.

In Tuesday night’s off-year elections, the incumbent Democratic governor in Kentucky — a state President Joe Biden lost by 26 points — handily won reelection. Democrats not only rebuffed Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s bid for total control of the state legislature by keeping the state Senate — they flipped the state House, too. And the party held a state Supreme Court seat in the nation’s largest Electoral College battleground of Pennsylvania.

“Youngkin falls short in his mission to win total GOP control of Virginia” ~ lol

“House votes to censure Rashida Tlaib over anti-Israel comments”

“GOP hopes crushed”

0 mentions of abortion in Fox headlines, at least they did admit to the election defeats (sort of)
The good thing about them ignoring abortion issues, Reps only watch fox news so they won't realize they need to STFU about restrictions.

The republicans of the naughts and early teens used to be able to lie about their policies and the true effects of them. Luckily, they are so into their own echo chambers they just scream the quiet parts out loud.

I kind of loathe ballot initiatives. I elect representatives to make informed decisions. I don't always have the time or energy to unpack the meaning of initiatives that deal with nmthe nitty gritty of state laws.
I agree, except when they are used to override an out of touch/gerrymandered state government. But even then I wish the state legislators would just do their damn jobs, the vast majority of ballot initiatives are written to strongly help whatever special interest wrote them. For example weed legalization, I am for weed legalization, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be regulated like tobacco. However, all of these state initiatives basically make it impossible to regulate advertising and at least in Oklahoma because it is "medical" people can technically smoke it anywhere.

Or when I was in Ohio they passed a state question to allow casinos, but only these 4, which wouldn't you know it, where all owned by the people that pushed the initiative. So you literally had other casino operators running anti-casino ads in Ohio to block this question that would open a new market, but only to their competitor.

These results are going to make tonight's debate a possible must watch. Wonder how they navigate the abortion issue?

It's a tossup between this or Sixers-Celtics.

Also debate being in Florida what about elevator shoes Ron and the issue of climate change causing insurance companies to pull out. He'll likely just call them woke. News for you Meatball, actuaries don't play woke they play numbers.

Either mealy mouthed stuff about letting states decide or straight up backing a federal abortion ban. The GOP primary debate is not somewhere you can back off and not damage yourself with the evangies.

15 weeks without exemptions is just something Republicans can sell to people that either lack any understanding of pregnancy or lack any empathy. The majority of genetic defects aren't found until around then or slightly later, which is likely the real reason republicans love it.

I know people are supposed to act like they'd be okay being a parent for any special needs baby, but my wife and I are okay admitting we wouldn't be. We would've never had a baby if we didn't know we had options in the case of a major genetic defeat. And actually her first pregnancy had a spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) due to a major genetic defeat (molar pregnancy).

The Dems have been doing well in special elections and anywhere abortion bans are at stake, this was a good and expected showing based on trends.

I hope the GQP fascists keep running on that abortion stuff, it's a gift that they are so openly horrible about it.

Or the exemptions are made so nebulous that doctors will not assume the risk of being sent to prison, which is the idea. That women should be forced to bear non-viable pregnancies to full term is absolutely monstrous and deeply unpopular.

But they are just women. Grab em by the p*say I say … I mean Abortion is just a woke scheme to deprive true Christian rapists of their God given rights

You'd have thought they were thinking they'd be happier during the crusades so they're trying to recreate them!

There have been several posters on here that claimed this would be a non-issue. They apparently have never known any real women.

the greatest thing is if the in the closet gay MAGA Mike speaker tries to push a federal ban on abortion next year. I know some GQP Senators are asking him not to, but I don't think he can help himself because he's just insane. I wouldn't worry too much about Biden if the GQP Congress pushed a nationwide abortion ban, that would motivate more than enough people.

The standard thinking has always been that Dems do worse in special and off cycle elections. Its really been in a post Trump, Post-Roe world where Dem voters seem to actually be turning out in these elections and that should scare the ever-loving bejesus out of Pubs.

These off cycles were their bread and butter, the red wave turning into a red trickle (and honestly the slim Pub majority in the house is probably hurting them more than if they had a slim minority) and now these podunk low turnout elections that typically only upper crust Pub leaning voters participate in going "wrong" has got a bunch of strategists somewhere shitting bricks.

Now, in a perfect world, Pubs would sit down, dust off their policy agenda and rework what isn't working. Back here in reality though, expect Pubs to go into election rigging overdrive and the Supreme Court better be getting their deadlifts in cause they're going to be carrying the Pub agenda hard for the next several election cycles.
