I would love to see people who wanted to prohibit a wealth tax interviewed. How was this sold to people. I wager it was misleading.
Didn't really even need to sell it to people since this was a super low turnout election with no national candidates.

I read through those and I am now truly convinced that Texans really are dumber than Okies. Okies soundly rejected the Farmers right question. Also I love how texans pass ever single tax cut and exemption, but then also pass every single new funding program.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that read it that way.

It was quite the list of things needing funding while knee capping any means to do so.

Tonight fairly good for Dems and abortion rights. Wonder how Fox News is going to spin it.

My guess they will quickly pivot to inflation, border and crime on a 24x7 loop.

Also continue their attempt to paint all pro Palestinian protestors as anti Semitic while ignoring Republican support for white nationalists.

Here in Colorado we have one of the most complicated ballot questions I've ever seen.

I voted no on the general principle that it's too complicated.
And the "harder than algebra" proposition failed. :)

I really don't understand how it was allowed on the ballot in the first place because there's a law saying propositions like this are supposed to be only one thing at a time.

Issue 2 in Ohio will pass. Smoke em if you got em.
Bad news for border dispensaries in MI but hopefully one more nail in the coffin of its Schedule status

Yeah reading the news this morning was nice for a change. I also think the Rs painted themselves into a corner here with their base centered on fundamentalist Christianity. They can't afford to back too far away from the abortion issue but its also killing them at the polls in a number of states and districts. Fingers crossed that they don't figure out a good alternative to drive voters anytime soon

Zero surprise here. Dems have the momentum and it only keeps building thanks to Trump's endorsement and the christofascist agenda against women's rights. As was just proven, again, the only poll that matters is the one they hold on 11/7.

It's too late magats. 71% of America is done with your shit and the prison-bound traitor you worship.

“Youngkin falls short in his mission to win total GOP control of Virginia” ~ lol

“House votes to censure Rashida Tlaib over anti-Israel comments”

“GOP hopes crushed”

0 mentions of abortion in Fox headlines, at least they did admit to the election defeats (sort of)

I kind of loathe ballot initiatives. I elect representatives to make informed decisions. I don't always have the time or energy to unpack the meaning of initiatives that deal with nmthe nitty gritty of state laws.
That's how it should work. The problem is that they do make informed decisions, but only on how it will impact their next reelection chances.

And since you can't "unpack the meaning of initiatives", can we assume you blindly vote for who represents you?

I mean, sure. Elected representatives generally do things that make sure they remain popular. That's generally the nature of elected government.

FFS. Some ballot initiatives are written in ways that you basically have to be a lawyer to figure out how it would interplay with existing laws, or should just be things the legislature deals with (looking at you MA referendum on liquor licensing in 2022). I can simultaneously spend time looking at my ballot and looking stuff up and gripe about the legislature not doing it's job (either out of partisanship, gerrymandering, or abdication of responsibility).

Individual ballot initiatives can be fine based on their topics, but they can also be incredibly bad (looking at you Prop 13 in CA).

Exactly what I was worried about. It even occurred to me some of the benign sounding TX propositions about purchasing and maintaining land for parks could simply be a voter sanctioned give away of tax dollars to some political donor whose got land he wants to sell.

Posting this here as well...

A woman in Loudon County VA calls into a radio show I often listen to. She met Glan Youngkin at a polling place and tells the following story. This woman who lives in VA confirms everything I've been screaming about concerning Glen Youngkin. If I was there, I would have kissed her.

1. CRT was completely made up
2. Youngkin managed to convince parents the state which ranked #4 in the country was failing their kids using BS culture war issues.

Yes, confirmation feels good but why does it take so much effort to overcome lies?

Great for my local area in bucks county. The school district next to me voted out the crazy school board that's been anti LGBT / pro book banning since 2021

Just from a cursory scan a lot of these nut jobs either failed to win school board seats or got pushed out by sane people in many places.
