I mean, sure. Elected representatives generally do things that make sure they remain popular. That's generally the nature of elected government.
FFS. Some ballot initiatives are written in ways that you basically have to be a lawyer to figure out how it would interplay with existing laws, or should just be things the legislature deals with (looking at you MA referendum on liquor licensing in 2022). I can simultaneously spend time looking at my ballot and looking stuff up and gripe about the legislature not doing it's job (either out of partisanship, gerrymandering, or abdication of responsibility).
Individual ballot initiatives can be fine based on their topics, but they can also be incredibly bad (looking at you Prop 13 in CA).
