They need at least 50 with VP being the 51 vote. Will they end up at least that much? Or is that still not guarantee?
Dems have 48. In Nevada and Arizona, the present leaders, one Dem, one Repug, are not assured of winning given the volume of as yet uncounted ballots. And then, there's Georgia, headed to a runoff.

So, no guarantee, but a half decent chance.

Good job fellow Michiganders - good job

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, all Democrats, won second terms in Tuesday’s election, defeating their far-right conspiracy theorist challengers.

And for the first time in 38 years, Democrats have gained control of the state House and Senate.

We enshrined abortion rights and voting rights* into our state constitution as well

*Prop 2:
• creating a nine-day early voting period;
• requiring voters to present photo identification or sign an affidavit when voting in person or applying for an absentee ballot;
• requiring that military and overseas ballots postmarked by election day are counted;
• providing voters with a right to request an absentee ballot;
• requiring the state to fund prepaid stamps and a tracking system for absentee ballots
• requiring the state to fund a number of absentee ballot dropboxes;
• providing that local governments can accept charitable and in-kind donations to assist with running elections as long as donations are disclosed and aren’t from foreign entities; and
• providing that election officials are responsible for election audits, requiring election audits to be conducted in public, and requiring election results to be certified based on votes cast.

In regards to the bold - some of you may remember some of the bullshit that happened in Michigan in 2020 around certification of votes in Wayne Co.

Reeks of desperation. The spineless one had 45 minute meeting with MTG. He’s being forced to grovel to such lowlife

In the local school board election (two open seats), the only thing that kept the Qanon anti-vaxers off the board is that four of them ran, splitting the nutjob vote. If they had settled on just two candidates, they both would have won.

I am thinking unemployment #s being resilient helped saved the Dems

I think the literate people of the country understand that "inflation" is mostly just corporate greed trying to reclaim the profits taht they lost during the pandemic, them somehow thinking they only they don't deserve to suffer, or merely chip in like the rest of us.

Most people who can read understand what is going on. The employment numbers pretty much contradict the common complaints that the economy is bad. It isn't bad. Assholes are running amok, and most people know that GOP has never had any solutions for that. In fact, most literate people know that the GOP only seeks to create these very problems.

Can't think of anybody who would vote GOP if corporations weren't the source and methodology that blinds the American people. Capitalist competition is what makes possible keeping people at each other's throats. Businesses profit from the fear of getting fucked and left behind by the rat race. American businesses thrive on rat mentality. In the US if you aren't a rat you can fall behind and so being a rat is considered a high virtue.

Looks like recreational marijuana will soon be legal in Missouri. Way closer than I thought, but glad to see it pass. I'm not a drinker or a marijuana user, but the fact that drinking is almost a social requirement while marijuana is super taboo is just absurd. I wonder how many people who voted against legal marijuana obliterate a 12 pack of Budweiser every Friday.

My understanding of how AZ counts is that mail ballots received substantially before E-Day are counted first, then E-Day, then remaining mail.

Nevada will count mail until Saturday and won't be done processing the dropped ballots from E-day (of which they're are reportedly many) till at least Thursday.

Just read an article that said there are 400K votes to be counted, all in Maricopa, and that "most are votes by mail."

Doh. Election official. 62,000 voted count released. But we have another 400,000 left to count. 290,000 came in just before closing polls > _ <
