What was surprising was that the US House seat encompasing Spokane County was not competitive. With its growing population Spokane County was quite competitive in the Presidential election. Spokane County was as competitive in this election in the senate race as it was in 2020. It is expected to flip sometime in the future.

Oye! Not looking forward to more droning from Schumer. (He on the tube right now)

Return to the days of Foley? Would be a nice thought. Look it up. I'm old.

What a great week. Magas and Ruskies defeated and humiliated in epic fashion by their own stupidity and hubris

Hahahahahaha assholes!

That shit will never stop being funny.

Lol if you manage to take the House as well ... the meltdown will be of epic proportions

A newfound inability to count votes on election day these past few years is steadily fueling R's calls to violence, amidst conspiracy that the elections are faked.
Admittedly nothing would quench their thirst for make believe... but damn this shit isn't helping.

Least Florida got their shit together after the 2000 debacle. Seems other States did not get that memo....

I bet if you looked at years past, it wasn't so much an issue because you largely had in-person voting only: totals tabulated in a local machine, send numbers to HQ to be fully counted up. There has been a substantial rise in paper ballots mailed in, so those take time to process and count, something that many states restrict prior to election day.

Anyway, why does the count have to be completed in the same day? It's not like the new person is taking office on the day or even week after election day.

They are given the impression of a victory that is then taken away.
It adds fuel to the fire of their passion... to call Democracy fake as justification to act outside law and order. It fuels their fascist dream.
Their fascist dreams revolve around "a heads I win, tails you lose" principle. They don't care about vote counts, or them coming out same day. Stop giving their conspiracies oxygen - they get enough fuel from charlatans spreading nonsense conflating vote counting with the act of voting.

Oh man this image just gets better and better every year. It's the only perfect metaphor for the modern day GOP. This is all the people.

This thing should be in life-sized bronze statues. It should be as famous as the Iwo Jima statue. In fact, this thing should be cast on every pedestal where a confederate monument was destroyed in this country. Fucking CARVE THIS THING INTO STONE MOUNTAIN.

It's really no different than what they had before. Just constant reminders of your loser selves and your loser ideas and fucking stupid brains utterly destroying yourself and your culture because you just can't fucking get enough of your own stupid fucking self.

All these guys do is fucking lose every fight they start.

I heard today that it's always taken weeks for Arizona to count votes. It's never been a big deal until Republicans made it so.

Ah yes, the Battle of Lake Travis, also known as Dumbkirk. Don't forget this photo taken about ~1 second after yours:

I'd also be ok with having a copy of this hanging in the Smithsonian, maybe as part of an exhibit on 1/6 and the events/seditionists leading up to it.

I agree, although I think 1000 per representative is a bit over the top.
Yeah, any increase will be better than the current 758k people per representative. However, in today's age of technology, we really don't have to increase the number, but implement a system that we the people get to decide how our representative vote on legislation.. IE post the bill on their district web site, we summit our vote (yes/no) and the representative be required to vote the majority.

To many maga idiots in Spokane County. The fact that Kathy McMorris still has her seat is disgusting.

Sadly, I haven't read this thread in its entirety.....but as to the question of why AZ takes so long....I found this a fascinating read (don't know if it's been posted before):

Some excerpts:

"Why can’t Arizona be more like Florida? In the last few days, this has become a common refrain.

"The main difference: Florida doesn’t have an avalanche of mail ballots on Election Day. The state doesn’t allow mail voters to drop off their ballots anywhere but the county elections office on Tuesday.

"Arizona does, and Maricopa County voters took advantage of late voting this year more than ever before. The county received 290,000 mail-in ballots on Election Day, according to County Supervisors Chairman Bill Gates, the most ever, and a 70% increase from 2020’s general election.

"There is also one major difference in how Florida counties process mail-in ballots. Florida counties have in-house scanners that process the ballot envelopes. Maricopa County does not. Election workers must pack the ballots up to be sent in their original envelopes to a separate facility in Phoenix, owned by Runbeck Election Services, to be scanned.

"This transfer of ballots takes a long time. Richer tweeted that it took his team five hours, from midnight on Election Day to 5 a.m. Wednesday, to prepare the 275,000 mail-in ballot envelopes to send to Runbeck to have them scanned."
