Good luck. We won that in 2020 in CT and still not a single recreational store has opened.

DC started in...2016 or so, still no actual legal recreational stores exist. Then again, DC is in the position of being controlled by carpetbagging republicans in Congress that have determined that they are able to vote out any and all resolutions that the locals overwhelmingly pass for themselves.

You know, because in such cases, Republicans can both complain about outside powers and money and influence controlling local politics in whatever state that they find offense; and then absolutely do that exact same thing whenever they see that they can do it. With zero shame.

But it's been 3+ years now anyway where you can't really walk on most streets, certainly get on a Metro train car, where the general smell of piss and armpits has been thoroughly replaced by dry or smoked MJ odors. (this annoys me, like with any public use of such things that a majority of people likely still don't want to encounter--even those that enjoy this stuff).

LOL I went to a Caps game last week and parked like 2 blocks from the arena. As soon as you get out of the garage all you smell is weed. It gets stronger as you get closer to Cap One arena where you see people just hanging out smoking by the metro and what not.

Even though I can easily take the Metro to those games, I won't do it anymore. I love being able to just hop in my car and drive home immediately after the games. And it makes it so I can't drink too much since I have to worry about driving.

Looks like we're going back to 50-50 except this time around with a pissed off Manchin that will already have to rebuke anything Biden does to save his own election campaign in 24.

Essentially it looks like the republicans will narrowly take the house and it’s all based on gerrymandering. In an even playing field Democrats would have won, which is a very strong result for a midterm.

Looks like the polls were basically right.

Without gerrymandered districts, you're probably looking at a +40/50 D house.

And I still think the polls were off, but skewed R a bit. They really missed the under 30 vote. This is showing in the predicted +25-30 house flip for GOP. Nowhere near that ...

The key to this year's victory for Democrats is going to be and has always been women and younger voters. As long as the base comes out in decent numbers, women and younger voters can overwhelm the fascists at the polls.

This is one thing a lot of polls may not be getting right. I mean they might have everything right but turnout of those two demographics, plus African Americans, can change the game.

This is also another signal to people who are interested in/worried about another Trump presidential run. The guy is electorally toxic. Without Trump, Republicans probably do much better last night.

Last night really really really puts Desantis in a super strong position for '24 going forward.

Which is moot since any bill from a R house majority will suck.

But now to speaker. Is it a single vote to determine or do they do multiple rounds if no clear leader? Would be funny if Dems all vote Pelosi but enough MAGAtards vote orange monkey to leave the spineless one short a few votes

Republicans are part of the check ✔ in the check and balance process.

Is the GQP check made out of dog shit? That would make sense. The democrats have to constantly try to balance that by being compostable plastic bags, always having to pick up those stinky GQP dog shit checks.

Yes, I’ve long been of the opinion that DeSantis is the most likely 2024 nominee for Republicans.

Trump improbably won in 2016 but since then every election he’s been involved with has gone poorly for Republicans because of one very simple fact people keep missing. Trump’s base may love him but the actual voters strongly dislike him. This is why his candidates are great at winning Republican primaries and terrible at winning general elections.

What would be a major difference if Dems control the Senate vs the GOP, when the GOP controls the House? I guess there's judicial appointments they can confirm and Biden won't have to veto.
