Please name the teams with 2 rbs that you would place in front of him.

Bengals are probably the only team that you can say that about definitively. There are a couple others who could arguably be included (MIA if Moreno returns, maybe DEN STL and NYG). Most other teams have a serviceable journeyman in the RB2 and RB3 slots (think someone like Kniles Davis or Shonn Greene) who might not keep their roster slot if SJax was brought aboard.

I was reminded of this thread when I saw this article.
http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/team/2015_Logos.html

Seems the factory of sadness is still going strong.

Can't believe there hasn't been discussion of the Brownies "new" uniforms. So radical! So cutting edge! They had the same "logo" (if you can call it that) for decades, and throw it right out the window!

In their own words "Our updated helmet logo is reflective of today's modern Cleveland."

My sides are splitting.

Vikings getting screwed over by the Cowboys? I'm all for it! I remember what happened last time that went down, and I'm all for some more SB wins!

Seriously though, I can understand Peterson's position. The Vikings weren't exactly supportive. They did pay him, but wouldn't commit to him returning. He is looking out for this future.

How were they not supportive? They werent going to bench him until public pressure got to them with the threats of advertisements being pulled. They were ready to keep playing him after beating his kid with a god damned tree branch. I didn't want him back and now definitely think the Vikings should get their own Herschel Walker trade in reverse from the Coboys. Jones is the kind of idiot who would jump on board trading picks for an aging RB that beats his kids with foliage.

They should have just made the new logo a picture of Lebron's face and change the team slogan to "all our hope rests on Lebron anyway".

Actually this would be more truthful advertising:

The bolded is a claim that is notoriously difficult, if not impossible to quantify. But it is a claim that serves, far more than any other use, for politicians to toss out as a bromide to the taxpayers to keep them electable.

http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/10/how-the-nfl-fleeces-taxpayers/309448/

I have before seen an assumed return-on-value for the simple presence of an NFL team to be essentially negligible--at least, certainly far below the annual cost on taxpayers to actually keep a team, but I can't recall where, tbh. Consider that any private business that exists only because of an individual franchise (say, one that sells hats, t-shirts, trading cards, whatever), is forking over a decent chunk of revenue simply for licensing. You can also consider them subsidized, in a way: They wouldn't exist without the presence of the team, anyway, so their presence really is a wash.

Hotels, bars, entities such as this: any city (outside of isolated Green Bay) large enough to hold an NFL team, has plenty of other options to draw in tourism--other sports franchises, for one--to keep them afloat.

Found some more info, after KQED California report this morning, about the potential Rams stadium, and the Raiders/Chargers deal

This guy was on the program. Leeds is an economist that does a lot of work in sports economics, and publishes in the Journal of Sports economics. He claims that one of the very few things that all economists agree on, is that local stadiums, and teams, contribute very little, if anything, to local economies.

Here is some other stuff. (simple google search)

http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwau...al-economy-report-says-cc9ehcj-201706591.html

http://www.humankinetics.com/excerpts/excerpts/economic-impact-of-sport-stadiums-teams-events

http://assets.wne.edu/164/15_arti_Impact_o.pdf

http://www.theatlantic.com/business...he-risky-economics-of-sports-stadiums/260900/

A few takeaways: One thing that always seems to be true: the introduction of a major sports franchise/stadium has little, no, or sometimes negative impact on the local township. Yes--it can drive out business and the potential job creation/revenue generated by the team is simply sapping from already-available jobs, or does not provide enough economic opportunity when considering the value of a major league sports franchise.

It seems that if any existing business benefits, it is those within a single block of the stadium that is built--businesses as few as 2 blocks from the stadium never seem to show significant benefits in revenue after the appearance of a stadium. In one strange instance, Inglewood's revenue decreased year-to-year when the Lakers skipped out and over to downtown LA.

Something I did not realize before: minor league sports franchises can be huge. I suppose due to operating costs, wider net of opportunity in terms of jobs (less restrictive qualifications), and the fact that you rely on local sponsorship and revenue to generate income--not headless corporate monsters that sap money out and into some other state, or foreign country, you see a significant increase in benefit to the local economy.

So, the answer seems rather clear: If you are a politician, and you honestly want to improve things for your town and create real, new jobs (not the phantom type of jobs), then tell the daddy MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL franchises to fuck off and die, and work on getting a minor league team or even an independent minor league team established.

While the numbers might appear as either a drain or, at best, a neutral impact on the actual economy, please find a politician who will piss off pretty much an entire city by advocating their major sports team (NFL especially) leaving. You think anyone that advocates the Bears, economy drain or not, leave Chicago is going to get reelected? Ha!

ya nobody wants to be on the hook when the music stops and the chairs are full.

SO many cuts!

Pernell Mcphee is still a good player as Canty both players the bears should sign PRONTO! Can you imagine the luck of the bears bringing in two solid starters like that that were cut so the bears still can qualify for supplemental picks. the bears Have to start playing the supplemental pick game soon to mfg some picks.

Brandon Marshalls agent is spreading rumors that the Colts would be interested in him if hes available.

AP could walk on to pretty much any team in the league save for maybe Seattle and Shittsburg, because they actually like their options (and because Bell is going to be a monster if he continues like he is).

Here is some interesting thoughts: What if Dallas, a team known for giving WRs huge contracts, is holding out / stalling Dez to see if AP, who is friends with Jerry Jones, will end up getting released / cut and keeping as much cap room as they can? They've already said it will be hard to keep both Dez and Murray (who is a good back, but a bigger product of the Dallas system). I'm sure they'd much prefer to give up Murray and McClain to get a 1 year deal for AP.

I am in agreement, which is why I had that kind of response to GagHalfrunt. Although I would add patriots to the list of teams that won't make much of a move on purple jesus.

The whole AP thing still seems so tasteless to me. I really hope the Vikings dont just cut him. They deserve at least a number 1 or two number 2s. I dont see Dallas giving up that much.

I hope he takes a I will sit posture. Please please please!

BTW.. whats the deal with the Dez Bryant "video" that supposedly is worse than Ray Rices? I just remember seeing it randomly ramblings on Twitter last week but nothing since.

police reports from the dec 11 event say that a woman was seen being dragged screaming from one car owned by Dez to another car. The police arrived on scene and Dez returned with the young woman and they both said everything was fine. The girl declined to press charges of any kind.

The police never asked for the footage so its unclear if it was Dez or his posse doing the dragging.

Weird.

I also think the arson at Rolondos house doesnt smell good. I can see this turning on him as well.

Lots of vet d linemen being cut. I am wondering if it has to do with the depth of that position in this draft? I think it is the strongest position of this draft class.

like manimal said, there are rumors of a tape with someone from Dez's crew dragging a women in a parking lot or something of the sort. Police report doesn't even implicate Dez in any way, so I don't get the big deal, but you know, headlines gonna headline.

I think the rash of vet Dline releases comes form two seasons ago when there were very few on the open market and teams overpayed. Same with recievers the last few years. Vet recievers were making bank and being overpayed in droves hello Miami. The way the rookies played and the trend of the best players being coached into wide recievers and the new reciever friendly rules have made young wideouts more valuable than before. Small fast guys used to a second though and how they can run out of the slot WITH ZERO press and run down the field like never before.

RBs are next. Too many young guys for old guys to be worth more than a vet minimum. I know everybody still likes S Jackson at his age but damn he had 190 carries last year and did 700 yards. That SUCKS!

I think he could do some damage with a stud line and I would LOVE to see him run behind the cowboys line. Imagine if the cowgirls went all in on power tre and signed three RBs and run 500 times next year. I would LOVE THAT!!!!!!

I don't know if anyone is going to give all that much for Wallace, the Dolphins will probably just cut him

ya I dont see anyone being that stupid. Same reason the bears wont find a trade partner and I think Marshall has more value to a playoff team.

I bet he gets a 1 year prove it deal same with crabtree unless the raiders and Jaxville loses their minds and signs both for big money. Would be a bad idea.

hell look at Jarvis Landry last year for the fins. Guy was awesome and he was considered a red flag guy at the combine after running a 4.7 or something super slow. Guess what? He played faster than Wallace LOL

In the next two years were gonna see even more vet WRs get thrown away. Short area quickness is worth more than experience with the defences being run today.

If I were bears I would sign Canty and Mcphee as well as Todd Herremans and that 6 foot 6 DT from washington that was playing out of scheme the last few years that just got cut, think his name was langford.

I screwed up my knee last week and I have been stuck inside way too much the last two months and I have played a little too much madden :) Last night I picked up a bunch of free agents and cut cutler and a bunch of vets on madden 25. I downloaded the current rosters and moved a few players around on the bears like putting houston at the 5 technique an David Bass and Cornelius Washton at OLB and put Bostic and Christian jones at the middle linebackers. if you pick the playbooks of the 49ers defence and the Denver offense you can see what the bears are gonna look like this year.Plugging in Canty and Mcphee and Chris Culliver at corner improved the bears immensely. Funny thing is Brian Hoyer played really well in Gase's system. If you throw some sliders way up and choose coach mode you can basically simulate the games. Fun to watch when your bored as fack. Jared Allen has been totally useless in 3-4 on madden. Foreshadowing? probably. I put Will Sutton and Ego Ferguson at five techniques as well and they hold up pretty well against the run. I know I was bored and on medication ><

My starting bears lineup

RE Houston
LE Canty or Ego Ferguson
Back ups Ego, Sutton, Ratliff heavy rotation
NT/Sedrick Ellis/FA from Jets great size should come cheap/ Langford FA from washington backup/rotational/ Paea could start if he comes cheap though I think he played better at Elephant LE like Mcdonald though Canty is a better natural fit there.
LOLB Biggest hole on the roster. Cornelius Washington has rare atheleticism and the simple nature of the rush role on that side could make him into a star or a goat. I see bears bringing in a vet there though there is zero chance they pick up the big names there. I see them drafting Eli Harold for that position but Washington has similar traits so he could really surprise there.
MILB cover Christian Jones / Has excellent cover skills and was steal as an undrafted FA
MILB Jack/run support Bostic/ Limited in coverage but good at run support. Has crazy speed for a run support guy but has made too many mistakes in run fits. Spikes is a natural fit at this position but has limited athletic ability while bostic can blitz well.
ROLB Willie young and David Bass. Play both of them in rotation while keeping young fresh for dime and nickle. Young may not get as many snaps but I think he can play there.
CB Chris Culliver FA will have to overpay near 10 million a year but GD the bears need help there bad
CB2 Fuller should have a much better year playing press man. His biggest trouble was playing off man on speedsters.
CB3/nickel Demontre Hurst really improved over the season. Signing Skrine would be a mistake and waste of money when Hurst can be same player with more lenght. Could also play Jennings there if he takes a pay cut but he lost his quickness last two years and should be cut.
FS Conte or resign Tillman and play him platoon with Conte or Al Louis Jean. ALJ should be switched over to FS since he has lenght and size and can cover a tight end. Tillman if he can stay healthy could play another 5 years in this system as FS. I dont see Tillman doing that but he would become one of the most athletic FS in the league instantly. Crazy not to. I could see Fuller being switched over to safety if they dont think he can cover on island.
SS Mundy has been servicable in cover 2 but in Fangios scheme he would be in trouble in coverage. I see them signing Will Hill.

I would only play allen in nickle and dime and let him rush 4-5 times from standing a game but I really dont think hes athletic enough to transition like Peppers did.

Bears play really well against the pack and the seahawks with those free agents. Bears when from losing by 50 points in sims with Cutler as the QB to winning against playoff teams by using Hoyer vs cutler. Was totally hilarious.

I bet bears end up signing Hoyer and end up trading Cutler. The lack of talk about Cutler speaks volumes about what the bears think of him.

Now that the bills lost out of the Mcown sweepstakes I wonder if they can throw a pick next year for Cutlet. Can you imagine the joy in chicago! Obviously the Titans still want Cutlet too.

Please football gods take the Cutlet away from chicago. Please.

To be fair to Wallace I still think he is a very good WR and a field stretcher that many teams are looking for, he just has obvious attitude problems. I'm not sure about last season but I saw a video from the 2013 Dolphins season where Tannehill was constantly over or under throwing deep passes to Wallace.

completely agree. The signing of wallace was a bad team fit and even worse fit with Tannehill. Tannehil needed a more experienced and polished guy running routes to what Wallace has given them. Tannehill is terrible at the long ball and thats the only thing wallace is good at. Bad on the fins for giving him all that money. Distorted the market for years.

Guys who can only run 2 routes are gonna have a hard time in the new NFL. When rookies come in with thousands of hours of Jugs machine work and cought 500 passes in college in spread attacks that move you all over and require discipline your gonna have a hard time justifying that when a rookie can give you much more for less.

Were gonna see all the CBs this year get overpayed and in three years most of them will be cuts. Hope they dont guarantee too much.

Look at the guarantees on the Jered Allen contract. Bears HAVE to use him this year. Cutting him would get them nothing other than roster spot.

Cowboys have confirmed Bryant going to be tagged. Not using the exclusive tag, but it would still cost a team 2 first round picks if the Cowboys don't match the offer. I feel they will have a long term deal before the end of the season. They won't let him hit the market. It looks like Murray will be a FA though. Dallas have stated it looks like no change with negotiations will happen before the deadline.

Lions have stated they are going to not use the tag on Suh and allow him to hit FA. I wonder if a team not the Raiders are willing to pick him up. Can't say I'd be anything but thrilled if he ended up on the Cowboys. He can stomp on any Eagles he chooses!

Broncos to tag Demaryius Thomas and Chiefs to tag Houston.

Good moves to tag all these guys. I am also not surprised there has been no talk of tagging the NE FS.

Since Suh is gonna hit the open market I think a few surprise teams will make a run at him though I think the bears should stay way.

Suh could get such big numbers that it may actually lower the price for CBs and wide recievers. I think suh gets a 110-120 million dollar deal from Jaxville. They have so little commited to the cap and they have to spend 15 million right away just to get to the percentage rule. I think the raiders try to throw 20 million a year but I think Suh goes to FLA because of tax reasons.
