The Good Wife - It is but a flesh wound...

The theorized continuation of the show even though the lead declined to sign a new contract was given a bit of CPR as a spinoff has been approved. The catch, this spinoff will live on as a stream only program to be the second tentpole of the online service alongside star trek.

cbs is looking for new home for Limitless.
http://deadline.com/2016/05/limitless-cbs-series-talks-other-networks-1201758827/

fun show always a little surprising in which direction they turned. never jumped into trope shark territory even though they couldnt maintain the really clever stuff from the first few ep. I really hope it finds a new home.
Yeah good show. I didn't always look forward to watching it but once I got started, I always got into it. That says a lot about the writing. This definitely deserves another season. And I think it would do better as a CW show than CBS. I think CBS skews too much to older folks and the humor in the show doesn't really register with an older crowd. That's my opinion anyway.

yeah the show definitely skews to a younger hipper audience. the ferris bueller episode though is clearly pointed at the family guy type of viewer. i was surprised the sunset network allowed them to show him hitting the bong as often as they did.

i wouldnt mind it going to netflix.

Agreed.

Hopefully another (cable?) network or Netflix/AMZ will pick it up.

I liked Galavant. It wasn't for everyone, it takes a brain to know when to laugh without a laugh track. So that cuts the audience down 90% right from the start.

Love how this is always the fall back excuse when some shit show gets canned.

Re: Castle

Any good? I've never seen it.

If you like Nathan Fillion, it's worth watching. It's pretty formulaic with a series-long plot item that shows up every once and a while, but plenty of the episodes are standalone. IMO, it's at it's best with the quirky episodes involving theories of ghosts or aliens or some such. Seemed to drag for the last few seasons as a lot of shows do after 4-5 seasons. I still watched.

some interesting perspective....

The syndication market has “exploded” with the growth of domestic and global subscription VOD services. As a result, “having ownership is a huge, huge difference — and it does affect everything we do. A show that’s 100% owned [by CBS] will generally get a better time period and generally will be more important to the network.”

That was evident in the six new shows CBS picked up for this fall. It owns 100% of three of them, 50% of two, and 70% of one.

Illustrating how ownership pays off, he noted that Elementary, which CBS owns, last year “made approximately an $80 million profit for the corporation,” while Person Of Interest, owned by Warner Bros., “broke even.”

“As I’m looking at my new schedule, guess which show got renewed? It became really self evident.”
...
Sony Pictures Television chairman Steve Mosko understood the rules, Moonves told the audience, when he pitched Kevin James’ upcoming sitcom Kevin Can Wait. The “first thing” he said was “‘we get that to get on it’s got to be a 50-50 partnership.’ I said ‘done, you’ve got a deal.’ “

“We’re not alone in this,” the CBS chief says, observing that Fox owns nine of 10 new shows, and ABC has 10 of 11.

Sheesh so good shows make get the axe for some bad shows that are network owned? Nice.

So, Person of Interest would make it to 15 seasons if it were CBS owned... with over 9 million viewers, I don't know why they aren't sharing/selling rights.

Bordertown was the only one I could sort of tolerate. Never got past one or two episodes of the others. How is Dr. Ken still on?

Bordertown had its moments though. It was like Sit Down, Shut Up in that most jokes were forced and lots of situations were over the top, but there were always a few risqué ones that gave me a good laugh. Bad time slot though, I remember a few NASCAR races bumped it off and had to catch those On Demand. Really liked Minority Report but I knew it didn't stand a chance, plus the "Washington Red Storm" thing annoyed me so much. The Muppets... come on, its funny, deserves another season.

It's kind of like Firefly, along those lines.

But I suppose you never watched that either...

Tad Cooper deserved better :p

I like the Catch. I used to like Quantico but I'll just watch it when the season is complete. Bad scripts for Quantico with using Chopra like a slut. She'd be much better if she did a Olivia Benson on SVU charecter but up to the writers.

I've been trying to watch Person of Interest from scratch, it's not bad but have been having trouble really getting into it.

It seems pretty much stand alone episodes more or less from what I've seen, unless it changes later on.

poi is a weird ball to untangle. it was originally promoted as a procedural with some hints of scifi. later it shifted into intrigue as the AI aspects were revealed. near the end of season2 it was clear it was getting deep into the scifi with a fairly large mythology. seasons 3 and 4 were all about dangling mysteries and hints about something big coming. by this time viewers were heavily invested in the characters and the universe. the standalone format mostly ended after season1, and it was all serial about the main AI arc even though there were still numbers of the week.

i actually like season1 over the rest, the stories and character stuff were more polished and demanded more from the actors and directors. you have to pay more attention and be actively viewing. you will miss tons of stuff if you are half watching or listening for plot points while you do something else.

What do Firefly or Castle have to do with a laugh track?

And what does either have to do with the fact that every time some shit comedy gets whacked there are folks out there who want to make it out as if the show was some comedic genius that the majority of the TV watching public was just too stupid to grasp due to the lack of a laugh track?

Interesting that Supergirl is moving to CW.

Looks like Grimm is a good news but not great news situation. Reenewal only for half a season worth of episodes to "allow flexibility" in scheduling.

Not surprised. Season 5 was not up to the same level as previous years. I predict season 6 will be 13 episodes as the renewal indicated, with no additional episodes, and that will be the last season just to wrap things up.

Supergirl is a good match for the CW. Much better than it was for CBS. But I think the show's writers are going to have to up their game. Most of the shows on CW are pretty well written. Sure, a lot of it is tween/teen pandering but that's fine if it's done reasonably well. Personally I don't think SG is up to CW standards, at least not as it is now. I'm not saying CW is the AMC of the youth market but it's not ABC Family/Freeform either. And even some of the stuff I've seen there isn't bad.

Early reports are that 'Cat grant' is going to be used sparingly, and that is a good thing.
The mission statement on CBS, was 'I am woman, hear me roar', and it was heavily slanted that way.
They just need to concentrate on getting out a good story, leave out the other BS.
