What I meant was that video stores haven't existed for about a decade. I think Blockbuster was still around 10 years ago but they were definitely on the way out. So it just seemed to be a very dated premise that they could have easily changed.

I don't really care since they probably don't return to that premise very often if at all. It just seemed weird that they wouldn't used something a little more current, especially if the failure of the business wasn't the issue.

Uh..video stores are very much still around. Not as many chains, but there is still at least one huge chain.

You know, I was wondering about that. The area where I live has pretty good broadband service and incomes are high enough that I think most people get some form, even if its just ADSL.

I did a search on nj video stores and it looks like this is it for my area.

And I'm not sure how many of those actually rent videos or just have video in the name. We do of course have things like Red Box kiosks in most high traffic areas.

But then I started thinking about more rural areas where broad band isn't really available or is too expensive and I realized that places like that must still have a need for video stores. So I guess it does make sense in certain contexts.

Bones renewed for a 12 episode final season.

I stopped watching a couple years ago... can't believe it's lasted that long. I still remember the "TV guide" blurb that came with the Saturday newspaper about what potential the new show had.

TV guide. Newspaper. I'm fuqing old.

Bones jumped the shark a dozen too many times for me to keep watching and that had to have been about 4 or 5 years ago. I have no idea how bad it's gotten in the meantime and I don't think I want to know.

It's a weird phenomenon. If people like a show and they stick to the same formula, the viewers seem to keep returning regardless of how bad it gets. SVU is another example of that. And of course NCIS and its kin. Just look how long it took CSI to die after Grisom (Petersen) left the show.

Bones jumped the shark for me when they kept letting
the Pelant character get away over and over and over and over again. What an irritating bullshit character.

Hawaii-Five-O is starting to do the same thing.
Chin's cousin or whatever he threw out the window from a few floors up got up again this past week.

For some reason, Hawaii Five O doesn't bother me as much as some of the other shows. They have the same sort of ridiculous plots, but I guess I like Mcgarett and danno. Danno is from New Jersey, so . . . you know . . . :)

It feels like Danno is trying to leave the show or something. He's been missing from like half the episodes over the current and maybe past season. Even when he hasn't mysteriously disappeared, his scenes are far away from the rest of the cast. Yes, I still watch it... Tried to give it up but it's a fun show.

I can only wish that would happen. I hate the character as played by Caan. Whiny and bitchy...more like a woman than a tough detective. Hell, even Kono is tougher than Dano. (and totally unlike the James McArthur version in the original Hawaii 5-0.)

It's gotten so the only reason we watch 5-0 is for the scenery. (and the kini's, but don't tell my wife that) :p

The whining and bitching is part of the chemistry between those characters. Some of the exchanges are pretty funny.

But having lived in NJ most of my life, I can see how that sort of character would get on your nerves. Actually, by NJ standards, he's not really that bad.

Last episode of H50 was interesting, with the flashbacks it had several of the characters showing some aging. Didn't feel like it's been on that long.

As far as the delayed Elementary-CSI swap, looks like that has been cancelled. CSI is finally jettisoned from Sunday to Wednesday with elementary keeping its Thursday spot.

Amazon cancels Mad Dogs.

As someone who has suffered in close relation to some jerseites, I love his character.

I thought it was great, but you need to like Aziz Ansari. I can see how some people would think his schtick is annoying. His dad is hilarious with the horrible acting.
I couldn't get into Master of None. I liked the premise, and the plots of the few episodes I saw, as well as some of the supporting actors, but I just wasn't a fan of him specifically.

As you say, I kind of found him a bit annoying. But I also found his character a bit annoying too.

Even sadder that they killed off Vegas as some way to bolster cyber and the result will be a total collapse of the csi property.

NCIS is still decent, but I can't see it lasting a whole lot longer. I just saw that Michael Weatherly is leaving. I think he is the only cast member that could carry the show, so I am guessing NCIS is going to be toast in the next few years.

I still watch SVU hoping that it will one day be good, but it is bad. Unbelievably bad. I am extremely surprised it hasn't been canceled.

I'm actually liking Duckie II in NCIS.
I'll probably download the past couple of seasons to watch over the summer in case I can't find anything else to watch.

I haven't watched the show in a while but you have to figure that Gibbs can't continue on the show indefinitely. Mark Harmon is 65 years old. I'm sure he doesn't want to do this shit forever no matter how much they pay him. If Weatherly is leaving and that's definite, there's no one to carry the torch. What will happen is that they will introduce a shit load of new characters and try to rework the dynamic of the show. It's possible to do but those attempts usually fail, often miserably.

Yep, end of this season and rolling into next will be big indicators of how much longer it will last. Be interested to see what casting changes they have planned.

I binged watched all of the seasons of NCIS on Netflix in November and December. I have this season and the season before on the DVR. I was hoping for Tony to take over Gibbs' chair but that is not going to happen. I say NCIS has one more year and that is it.
