I like to laugh. But the only network sitcom I can presently stomach is Life in Pieces, which has the saving grace of having a short form format of three thematically linked sketches in one half hour episode. This avoids the excruciating hell of a show trying to milk one lame plot point -- Billy broke the vase! -- for a full 30 minutes. ;)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is excellent.

Sweet Jesus did that show suuuuuuuuuuuuccckkk.

Yup, sucked.

I generally hate sitcoms with a passion but there are a couple out there that aren't bad. Man Seeking Woman is bizarre and surreal but is still very funny. The episode a couple weeks ago with the life sized sex doll was hysterical.

Agreed! It's the kind of show that takes huge, out of the box chances which can really fail, but when it connects, it's one of the freshest and most distinctive sitcoms on TV.

Also Mom and Last Man Standing aren't bad. Mom is LOL funny many times while LMS only gets the occasional giggle.

Mom is meh. Not terrible, just meh.

2 Broke Girls used to be really funny but it's gotten pretty boring the last couple of seasons. Last season there were some very funny episodes but this season is pretty dry. I guess there is a limit to the number of sexual entendres you can come up with.

The stacked one has a sexxxay face to go with her "assets," but this in not a show I can watch.

"The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 2 [broke] characters."

That's a good show to binge watch w/o commercials. Even if one episode is boring, there's a good chance you'll like the next one. It's another show that I watch but don't really love.

BTW, are we considering Archer a sitcom. Because that can be really funny. I thought changing the theme last season was a great move. This season I guess they'll be back to spying.

They were back to spying last season. 2 seasons ago was Vice.

Master of None and Days of our Lives renewed.

Disney gets a new star wars cartoon of the Lego variety.

CBS in its continued move to have at least co-ownership on everything they air (see POI and M&M), have cancelled an approved pilot.

Well, it's a matter of semantics I guess, but when I say network, I mean the traditional ones available over the air and when I say sitcom, I also think mainly in traditional terms, i.e., I don't automatically think of animated shows.

Otherwise, yeah, Archer is absolutely THE BEST, JERRY, THE BEST.

God help me, I watched the entire last season. It's stupid and foul and will really offend those with any degree of tender sensibilities. The title alone should bring out the League of Decency. It's not even that good for what it is. I watch it anyway. ():)

How is this show? Can't really tell much from the description except that it is probably one of the quirkier shows.

I thought it was great, but you need to like Aziz Ansari. I can see how some people would think his schtick is annoying. His dad is hilarious with the horrible acting.

LOVED it, but as previously stated you need to be a fan of his (or at lest be able to tolerate him). It was a really well done show - fresh in it's style and presentation. There's a "moral" to every episode too. The "Parents" episode I think speaks volumes.

I am curious how he will proceed with next season as most of this season was directly based off his current stand up show - like exactly.

Pretty much. Not quite, "it's so bad it's good," but I enjoy it.

And I found out Stevie, played by Emily Hampshire, is 36/37! IMDB lists her as younger but I found a news article and other sources that said she was 30 in 2009.

According to the summary of the plot, the lead character was the owner of a chain of "video stores." Please tell me that they didn't really use that.

Explained in first 5 minutes of first episode but...
It wasn't the video stores that bankrupted him, it was some embezzling or criminal accountant.

The good thing about the show is that the show doesn't depend on the small town people being ridiculously stupid, they actually seem mostly normal. It's about the rich people being completely out of touch.

What I meant was that video stores haven't existed for about a decade. I think Blockbuster was still around 10 years ago but they were definitely on the way out. So it just seemed to be a very dated premise that they could have easily changed.

I don't really care since they probably don't return to that premise very often if at all. It just seemed weird that they wouldn't used something a little more current, especially if the failure of the business wasn't the issue.

Ya, you've got a point. I thought of Blockbuster for a second and ignored it since.

"Most watched" includes people outside the demographic for the commercials. So that doesn't mean much.

Hope you like what CBS is offering, cause with news like this you'll probably be getting more even if it's not on cbs.

Almost everything on CBS sucks ass - NCIS and both of its clones, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, Scorpion, Five-o, etc. Some of their shit they can't pay me to watch like Cyber. Sweet Jesus is that one steaming pile.

They've even managed to f*** up the good shows like Supergirl. I think the only ones I actually like are Elementary (which is almost always excellent), Madame Secretary (although this can be trying and cliche much of the time) and of course Person of Interest.

I do watch Five-O but I'm not sure why. I think I watched the first season and then gave up on it. Then a few years later, I was really bored one summer with nothing better to do and I binged the years I'd missed. It was tolerable as long as you didn't really pay attention.

edit: I do have to say though that they have some decent comedies. I think Mom and Big Bang are consistently funny. I used to be a huge fan of 2 Broke Girls but the writing isn't nearly as good as it used to be. I guess as with most sitcoms, after a while you just run out of new ideas.
