You think everyone being mentioned here enjoys this? Why do they deserve to be belittled for your entertainment?

they already entertained us once this year; this is their chance to entertain again, and be rewarded for achievement in self-ownage of the year. Not all of us can aspire to such talent.

It's like the razzies. no one's belittling them here; just acknowledging their work.

Let's be honest...
It's like the razzies. everyone's belittling them here by acknowledging their work.
Now that's better, and it doesn't mean they don't deserve it.

Also, a lot of people seem to be confused about what constitutes ownage of the year. Saying something completely retarded isn't enough for a nomination, that happens all the time. To win this thread someone has to thoroughly and consistently make an ass of themself in a thread to the point that there can be no question to any observer that they fucked up badly.

Example: A makes a thread to rant about something, call it 1, then B through D explain that 1 is just wrong. A then informs them of their error, questions their parentage, and goes on to claim 2 through 4. At this point the thread is really starting to take off and F through H comes in, and during the course of that A is proven again and again to be talking out of their ass.

And here's last year's, for reference.

Is it me or are the contestants (and their work) this year just not much worth "celebrating"? They just don't seem the same low standards that we've come to expect and hope for?

Disappointed

Tittle of this thread : 2014 self ownage

Making a fooling statement to make self looks like a huge jackass/moron = self ownage.
What about that guy that posted something daft and then went on for 20 odd posts begging people not to quote him but still not admitting that his post was daft.

That was pretty funny.

this. Just saying something that someone else disagrees with (SVNLA's example), is not ownage. It's all too common that an equally idiotic person confuses the term, yells HAHAHA I OWNED YOU MORAN! HAHAHA!, to their object of scorn, as if anyone would ever validate a highly subjective charge. It is almost invariably true that person calling "ownage" in such an example, is pretty much worthy of the same scorn...you know, they seem unconcerned with the actual burden of proof when they make such claims.

Ownage happens when:

--pretty much everyone agrees that the ownee is in the wrong
--the ownee is so stubborn, and so daft, as to to be blissfully unaware of how wrong they are
--bonus points (truly--required for the title, I think), if their obstinate refusal to admit their error inspires them to post after post of mad flailing, random blaming, and proud assertion that no one really "understands what they are saying."

Begging? If you are going to lie, at least lie well.

Here is my very first reply to you directly = http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=36957675&postcount=42

Where was the begging? LIAR!!!!! LYING bastard!! Hahahahahahaha. I ignored your pathetic attempt to licking my butt hole then and I am going to ignore you in this thread. Go lick someone else balls. LIAR.

Now, STOP following me and licking my butt hole, ok? So nasty, I do not play that way. Shoooshooo, get lost. When someone does NOT want you, take a hint and take a hike. So pathetic. :D

Well, you have a point if the thread tittle was "Ownage of the year" but it was "SELF ownage". That's how I see it.

True. You had to fabricate yours...and you did a fine job. Bravo.

I admitted in another thread that I truly did believe that it wasn't his soup--that part wasn't a fabrication.

...I just went with the post, knowing that he could very well Trgyve me, but I was prepared, and kinda hoping for it. Yes, I wanted to be right, but I was going for entertainment value. :D

I was a new and naive bride to ATOT when I joined, didn't know about self pwnage threads in my innocence. If I had, I would have thrown this thread-shatting out there, knowing it wouldn't win but passive aggressively enjoying said shatters getting laughed at.

That's like "I want team A to win but I think team B will win" :D

Have you ever read his sig? He likes to point it out from time to time, remind us that he keeps it real, all the time.

Did I tell you about my newest sig line? "A chicken foot in the hand is worth two chickens in the bush"

I normally browse using Tapatalk so I'm spared everyones signatures.

After a brief glimpse using the desktop it explains a lot, I should stop picking on 13 year olds. :(

Like something out of The Karate Kid...

Svnla, take all that shit out of your sig. It looks corny.

I'll just say that I learned a long time ago to never trust anyone with a manifesto in their sig.

Just trying to give you advice. It looks ridiculous.

Advice from you? Really? The same guy that is notorious with making stupid and ignorant posts in this very own forum/subforum? Thanks but NO thanks.

Anyway, the topic is NOT about my sig. Don't like it? Tough. <shrugs>

Next!!!
