Time Inc - 500 jobs lost

U.S. Steel - 175 jobs lost

Gencorp - 225 jobs lost

Volvo - 4,400 jobs lost

Great Northern Paper - 212 jobs lost

Manitowoc Cranes - 235 jobs lost

Zynga - 314 jobs lost

Volvo is likely to completely exit the US market this year. They just aren't competitive with other auto brands and as a result sell so few that it is no longer worthwhile to continue in the US.

Bloomington limestone firm to close, lay off 166

An 88-year-old Indiana company that supplied limestone to many of the country’s most important buildings is going out of business, putting 166 employees out of work.

Bloomington-based Indiana Limestone Co. Inc. notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development that it would close “its entire operations and permanently lay off its entire workforce as the result of pending bankruptcy proceedings and the possible sale of the assets of the company.”

ILC is the largest limestone quarry company and fabricator in North America, according to its website. Over the years it has supplied limestone for the construction of numerous landmark buildings, including the Empire State Building, Pentagon and the National Cathedral, as well as 35 state capitol buildings.

About half of the employees are represented by one of four unions: the Laborers International Union of North America, the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and the Journeymen Stonecutters Association of Indiana.

Resilience Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in Cleveland, acquired ILC from Columbus-based Johnson Ventures in 2010 for an undisclosed amount.

Resilience merged the company with Victor Oolitic Stone Co., which it acquired in 2009. The company has struggled with debt since the merger and owes creditors tens of millions of dollars.

========================================
Ironic name of the Company, Resilience.

I bet the plant re-opens under a different name in less than a year without any Union employees.

Wow, I didn't notice the date and I'm sure McOwned didn't either. He was just happy to post more doom and gloom.

What do you expect? He's an idiot! You might as well post daily police blotters about murders.

I get him though. You have to view the world through his lense, and it's admittedly pretty out of focus when it comes to jobs and self sufficiency.

Wait, wut? This is one of Mitt Romney's great success stories, all of the jobs created.
No mention of how many jobs are going to be impacted by the store closures.

Seriously? You're blaming Romney for some Staples store closures? You're as dumb as McOwned. :D

Entenmann's closing Bay Shore bakery, cutting 178 jobs

"This was a difficult decision," Rod Cunha, vice president of operations for the metro area, said in a statement. However, he said, the plant, opened in 1961, "cannot operate efficiently on a cost competitive basis with the other bakeries in our system."

Newly hired production workers get paid $11.50 an hour, in contrast with the $19 to $20 an hour salaries that some longtime employees make at Bay Shore.

The announcement is the latest in a decades-long series of manufacturing job losses on Long Island.

Entenmann's parent company Bimbo Bakeries is the U.S. arm of Mexico's Grupo Bimbo, which calls itself one of the world's largest baking companies.

Its American brands include Arnold, Boboli, Freihofer's, Sara Lee, Stroehmann and Thomas'.

Quit talking smack and look at reality for a change. Somehow, you have seemed to escape the wrath. When his socialist policies impact members of your own family, and they will, then what say you?

In my own family, a pack of liberals, by my own admission, I know they have been hurt badly. How I know is that they have grown silent and are no longer singing dear leader's praises. My own liberal brother is one who had to mail some of the insurance cancellation letters.....you know the ones that came after the president proclaiming, "if you like your health care plan, you can keep it."

There is nothing they can say. They got burned by their own ideology and many of you will or already have, but just are too wuss to admit it.

Your attitude towards people who have different political ideas is whats wrong with America not who is in office.

Here for you. Hyper-partisanship dragging down nation
