You forgot the Colts. I don't think the Patriots have the defense to stop the Colts. Plus, the Ravens thoroughly embarrassed the Patriots last year and if anything, I think the Ravens will be better this year.

Brady was injured and they were missing their #2 WR Wes Welker . They also had no depth what so ever after the few 1st stringers.

I would like to confirm that the word "Seahawks" has not been used once in this thread :(

Unless Belichick made a recent change and Brady and Welker also play defense, I don't think it will matter.

Whatever the Ravens do end up doing, this will probably be their last shot at the Superbowl for a while. Ed Reed & Ray Lewis are in the twilight of their careers, and it won't be the same team once they've retired.

Ravens will still have a good defense, but yeah not as intimidating as it is now

Steelers aren't gonna get it done this year. You can't ever count them out completely if big ben and troy are healthy, but I just don't see it happening this year.

I'd like to think we can at least make the playoffs, but we'll be lucky to do that as a wildcard.

All this talk about Green Bay going to the Super Bowl scares me.
Remember, this is still pre-season. Pack's defense is still verrry poor in areas (Safety and LBs) because of key injuries. They were impressive Thursday night. But there are still questions that need to be answered.

If the Defense fails, can our offense pick us up? Yes, I think so. But this is predicated on protecting Aaron Rodgers. Our running game is full of fail though. Ryan Grant has never been a cut/slice kind of runner. And it seems that our running plays are geared toward that kind of runner. Grant has always been a power smash-you-in-the-mouth running back. Without the O-line gaining the first few yards, Grant is stopped in his tracks.

Kicking/Special Teams: Will Crosby be able to make chip shots in 10 degree weather with the Lambeau winds? Sure, he's hitting his marks now. But playoffs are not won in August/September. They're earned through the year, but won in December.

Packer fan(s), I remain cautiously optimistic. Our division is really a two team race. I don't see much of anything from the Bears or Lions, though I do predict the Lions going .500 this year (which would seem like a Super Bowl victory to other teams).

If you're looking for a Super Bowl prediction from me, I'm not giving it. Rather I'll give you the teams that are making the playoffs this year;

Division Winners (NFC)
East: Cowboys
North: Packers
West: 49ers
South: Panthers
Wildcard teams: Saints - Vikings

Division Winners (AFC)
East: Jets
North: Cincinnati
West: Chargers
South: Colts
Wildcard teams: Patriots - Ravens

How do the 49ers still have Alex Smith as a QB? Seems like he's had his opportunities in the past. Did he somehow magically get better?

No, but he's finally in year 2 with the same offensive coordinator from the previous season. All the years prior, they've changed OCs every season. Might not seem like much, but I'd bet it is pretty difficult to know what plays you're going to be calling/running when they change every year. Now that there is some continuity on offense, he might have a chance to succeed.

I'm not chiming in on predicitions, but I am VERY glad to see so much love for The Pack. Oh man... could this be Rodger's year? How sweet to think it...

I think it comes down to them and the Vikings in the NFC. I give the Vikes the slight edge but a single play can change either team's fortune drastically.

I'm not sold on the Cowboys though I think they are near the top in terms of talent.

You way underestimate Wes Welker's importance.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...Category=RECEIVING&season=2009&seasonType=REG

He was #1 in receptions and #2 in receiving yards. That's remarkable because he missed 3 games due to injury. Welker is literally uncoverable unless you double team him.

He had 123 receptions while #2 and #3 (steve smith and andrew johnson) don't even come close with 107 and 101 receptions... and smith had 15 games while johnson had 16 games under the belts. Welker only had 13 games. If you took Welker's average per game, he would have had 151 receptions in a full 16 game season if he wasn't injured.

I agree that on paper, and "educated guess" its between the Vikes and the Packers... I don't see anyone else in the NFC rising to the occassion. BUT... it's the NFL. We all know ANYTHING can happen and always does. This is why it's great.

On that note, and in regards to the Cowboys, I too think they have the talent to win it all... but there's something "missing". Though maybe I just hate them too much to crown them.

I don't underestimate his importance; on the contrary, I think he'll be the receiver teams gun for this year with double teams. I think someone like Edelman (is that the guy's name who replaced him?) may need to step up to take the pressure off of him. I just don't know which Moss is going to show up this year -- the good one or the one who doesn't care?

I think you may be underestimating the injury he's trying to come back from. No matter what, that type of thing will slow a man down and limit his cutting ability. He may just be human now.

Yea, I'd love to see them go as much as the next Packers fan, but something about that D scares me. Statistically they looked great on D last year, yet they really didn't seem to shut teams down. It seems other teams could move the ball at ease at times. Hopefully they make some adjustments and tighten things up a bit.

I guess the good news is that we all know GB can score some points. So even with an 'ok' D they'll be a competitive team. I think Jermichael Finley will have a monster year if he stays healthy. Taller than Randy Moss, strong 250 lb TE is going to be tough for other D's to compensate for.

1) Moss is playing for a new contract. He's looked slimmer and faster this year and he's been working his butt off during the offseason. I don't think he 'doesn't' care, but when he draws double coverage on most plays he does quit a little early sometimes. As long as he keeps drawing double coverage, he'll open it up for everyone else.

2) Don't forget our TE's. Both Gronk and Hernandez have been monsters this preseason (yeah yeah preseason), but i think we'll finally have a running game with 2 TE sets and Brady will FINALLY have a TE to throw to that doesn't suck in the passing game. It looks like we basically drafted a bigger Todd Heap/Jason Witten in Gronkowski and Dallas Clark in Hernandez. I'm so excited.

Gronk is 265 lbs of pure manliness (not gay):

He's looked fine so far. His recovery has been one of the fastest i've ever seen, it's not even a full year and he's all healed up. He's literally wolverine.
