it really does take some getting used to. there is a very fine line between blowing up a mob and blowing up yourself, especially when things get chaotic.

I finally beat that G-damn snake at the end of level two a little while ago--after another pile of deaths--my strategy was sitting under his head and self-casting fire earth fire earth whatever so the boulder would hit him, of course, I wasn't always lined up, so I end up setting myself on fire.

in the next level, you ride on these airship things and fight off a few mobs in other airships. I have a staff that lets me teleport as its primary skill, and I accidentally teleported onto another airship b/c of frantic button mashing--just before the airship takes off. instant death. :(

haha, yeah, I made it the checkpoint after the snake/dragon thing in the forest. I beat it by using the AOE ice/water combo (shoots ice shards from the ground. It would freeze it for a few seconds and I could get multiple hits by doing that. Kind of like a stun lock type of deal. Took me awhile and several deaths to come up with that and it may even have been by accident that I discovered that worked so well.

this would definitely be more fun/easier with other players.

Do we advertise for 4-way pack bundles here or in FS/T or HD?

You don't at all, against the rules IIRC.

Can't do it here sadly. If you are a member of cheapass gamer though, they do have a thread for sharing.

I did once a while back during Borderlands sale . But I made sure others were interested in throwing down on bundle before purchase. Maybe mods just looked the other way. /shrug

Bought BFBC2 bundle for $9.99, it's pretty awesome deal.
Already have DARKSIDERS and BIOSHOCK2 and haven't beaten them as yet...
I am pretty sure I used logitech rumblepad2 with XBOX360 controller patch downloaded from website and they worked fine for me when playing DARKSIDERS.

Darksiders any good?

It's pretty good. A cross between Zelda and God of War with a Warhammer/WoW artistic flavor.

I went ahead and got the Magicka Complete pack for $8.49. I can tell it's already going to be well worth it. Very fun game with the way spells are cast and their effects.

is it any good?

No, not really.

I can't even start the game from Steam. The problem is that the developers decided to use Flash-based video... yeah, you read that correctly. Steam always makes sure you have the right stuff installed to play the game, so it tries to install a specific version of the Flash player. This is okay if you don't have Flash installed or have an old version, but mine is the latest. :\ I disabled the Flash install portion of the start-up script, but now the game won't start-up from Steam. I have to launch the executable manually.

To actually talk about the game... it's kinda annoying. The camera loves to swing around (and you can't control it). You're forced to move around in a 3D area with WASD, which becomes a bit annoying when you're trying to jump from platform to platform. Combat seems to lack that sense of fluidity that you get in games like God of War, and not to mention it seems that the insta-kill effects on tougher enemies doesn't seem to work sometimes. I can hit 'e' (the use button), and I just kind of sit there like an idiot.

I just downloaded a save that put me at the raft for the summer event. The insta-kill actually worked there, but I got the achievement and that's what matters. :p

Does it have support for Xbox360 controllers?

I really loved Bad Company on the 360, though I never got into the multiplayer. I also loved BF Vietnam back in the day.

Does anyone still play BC 2 and the Vietnam pack online? $10 seems like a great deal, but maybe I should try to pick it up in the used bin for the 360. Is Vietnam available on the 360 as a download?

I haven't played it but Darksiders got pretty good reviews and the lowest I've seen it was for $10 on steam. Super Meat Boy would be cheaper if you got it from GMG and used their 20% off coupon and pay through paypal/or with paypal. It activates on Steam.

The price is higher than I expected it though. I think I picked it up last winter for $2.50? It does have a level editor now though and I think it runs on mac now so maybe that's the reason for the increase. But I thought Steam would have it for $5 or something.

Every time I launch Magicka it says it has to do 1st time set up of .net framework.

also, I bought the DLC for it and when I clicked install, nothing happened. Now it doesn't seem like it's available to me. Haven't started the game yet but I don't see anywhere in steam that acknowledges that I have the DLC.

I had that problem, too. I got it when they released the first DLC--vietnam and the hat and sharp sword pack, all for $7, I think.

I only discovered yesterday that you go to your created character in the menu, mouse hover over that tab, and select customize. that, at least, gives you the clothes, items type of DLC.

still can't find vietnam or how I should even get to it. Maybe you have to complete the main adventure first?

Two Worlds II - Worth it for $17?

It wouldn't be worth it if it were free. The graphics were horrible, the collision detection laughably bad. Just a horrible, horrible game, imo. HTF is got a 76 on metacritic, I have no idea.

I should add that this was playing it on a console. PC may be different.

The TW2 deal is the first one that has tempted me, but as I'm just getting into (and really enjoying) ME2 I'm going to hold off.

Interestingly, IGN only rated it a 6 overall with a 5 presentation subscore due to poor controls. BUT they only rated it on Xbox.

Still, I think I'll wait for another sale where it will probably be $5 lol.
