I agree. Button has made him look somewhat ordinary this season. The brain fades don't help either. Quite surprising considering his fans consider him the 2nd coming of Senna. :hmm: He's still the most entertaining driver on the grid though.

Pretty sure we're not gonna see that in a couple of years, if ever. Senna was... something else.

Kimi rumored to drive for Williams next season. D:

On one hand, I am happy that they are going to replace Barichello.. but as a fan of Kimi, I hope he is taking the right decision.

My guess is he's using Williams as a warm up for a Red Bull ride when Webber leaves.

I looked down to finish writing my lab report and look up to see a sad Vettel behind some tires. Just missed his crash.

Hamilton just appears in his own world. Oh I will attempt to set everything up perfectly and forget that I even need to run a lap...

I am not 100% even if he didn't have the altercation he was going to get a lap in. The one thing I am sick of is everyone sticking up for Hamilton. He has had a bad season and been involved with more accidents than any season that I can remember. No reason to get the team boss on to discuss how he was there to "not let people by."

The competitiveness of the Mclaren car and the new number one driver in Jenson will make for an interesting 2012 season. Obviously the reason they haven't announced Button's new salary is because its going to be higher than Hamilton, so they are trying to break it to him that is now the "number 2" guy. If Kimi comes back and Williams and Mercedes can run anything competitive, 2012 may come down as the best season in F1 history.

On an aside. Why not send the guys out with 30-60s at the start of the flying lap instead of trying to get it down to 5 or 10s?

Potential less traffic on the track and by waiting until the last second hopefully the driver you're trying to beat has already posted his qualifying time and you know what you have to run to beat him.

It's really just the traffic. By the time the first real pole contender crosses the last is already halfway through the lap. They'll all going flat out anyways.

There are only 10 cars in Q3, and often less than that.

There were only 6 cars in Q3 this time, iirc.

What traffic?

Well, I don't want to hear another word about Schumacher's swerves at the start...

Had anyone else squeezed Button off the track like Vettel did at the start they would haven gotten a penalty for it, guaranteed. Not that it would have mattered if Vettel got a penalty though. Should be interesting to see how the next four races turn out.

congrats to vettel and red bull. when will they ever be caught?

the race was ok, but the tv director (fuji tv) combined with speed tv really made for a lousy viewing experience.

They are close to being caught as the Mclaren keeps performing better and better every week. Next year should turn out to be an interesting year than who knows what happens in 2013 with all the new regs. Newey I am sure has something up his sleeve for next year but with an almost guaranteed constructors championship and a double world champion in the fleet it makes sense not to show your hand just yet.

On an aside it has become abundantly clear at this point that Hamilton is the number two driver for Mclaren. He is too hard on the new tires and drives too aggressively given the worse tire characteristics than they had in the past. Without a change away from the Pirellis you have to put Hamilton as the backup guy not the first driver. He is more electrifying to watch (if he could stop running into Massa every race) but on the Pirellis he is an average driver in a good car.

Korea is probably my favorite circuit of the year so I will much enjoy next week. DRS added between turns 2 and 3 on the long straight should make for an interesting week. Korea is just what I imagine when I think of a circuit. Short corners, long straights. Overall a very challenging circuit on both drivers and car.

the only race held in korea was last year's mayhem, so there are still a lot of unknowns, which is good. there's going to be an unusual period of rules stability until 2014, so i guess mclaren and red bull will take an evolutionary approach and clean sheets of paper for everyone else.

2014 you are correct. I was thinking through 2013.

Even Ferrari looks good at the high speed circuits.

Of the three teams I don't think they are that far off at this point in the season. It is nothing like the beginning of the season.

It will be interesting to see how evolutionary Red Bull is into next year, however like I said earlier I really see 2012 as a good season in F1.

Will also be interesting to note what happens on the Mercedes team and if we see Kimi come back.

Vettel, Kimi, Hamilton, Button, Schumacher, Alonso, Webber (although not a world champion) would be an amazing front of the grid.

Seeing Kimi in a Ferrari rather than Massa would make for an even more interesting twist, but all reports are he is headed for a losing Williams...

Hamilton running into to Massa again, surprise surprise. From my perspective the stewards were feeling very lenient today. In most races Vettle and Hamilton would have been penalized.
