Off topic, but when looking up Motumbo, I found Dennis Rodman is BY FAR the most 'effective' rebounder in the history of the game.

Total Rebounding Percentage, 23.44% :Q

ok back on topic, lol

He simply wanted the ball much more than everyone else. Of course his giant body/long arms helped out too :p - but he was playing with others of the same size.

Mutumbo will get into the HoF. His stats were good but not great but his off-court stuff will get him in. Maybe not first ballot, but he'll get in.

Ouch, sucks for Mutombo and the Rockets. Not sure if they'll make it to the 2nd round - again...

That's a shame, because he says its over for him. He's one of the most respected/liked people in the league, and should be a future HOF'er imo.

BUmmer, I always liked him, even the finger-wagging, which I always considered more playful than disrespectful.

But HOF? No way.

Mutombo is an eight-time All-Star who won the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year award four times and stands in second on the NBA's career blocks list with 3,289.

One of the best defenders and rebounders in the history of the league. He only scored 10pts a game, but played 18 years and was a great embassador of the league. I think there's plenty of room without disrespecting others that haven't made it imo.

career stats

Much of the same (although not DPoY, which often goes to a C or G) could be said for Horace Grant, Charles Oakley, Dennis Rodman.

In the last 25 years or so, there have been enough centers who have similar rebounding and blocked-shot stats to Mutumbo, but vastly better offensive games. Robert Parrish, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Shaq.

No championships, either.

IMO, HoF is for the Great, not the Very Good.

Are you saying the centers you listed have no championships?

Sorry, I meant that Mutombo has no championships. My bad.

I figured, just wanted to clarify. Mutumbo has been to the finals though.

You don't need championships to be in the HoF. He will be in the HoF cus of how much he is loved and his blocks. He's not a great player but he will get in there for sure.

I didn't say you needed championships, but it's a big help, especially when you don't have impressive stats. See Bill Bradley, for example.

But, you're probably right, he'll make the HoF based on the lovin'.

Victory for Orlando. Series 1-1.

i think they'll split the 2 philly games.
The Magic have been pretty good this year winning away games. Hopefully they'll take at least one in Philly and get home court advantage back.

Go Bulls!

Where are their fans? Lotsa empty seats.

Bulls gotta get crackin'. They've gotten some officiating in their favor, they need to take advantage.

Yeh, 50% from the line is killer, especially given that games 1 & 2 were decided by a single shot.
