Duncan will stay with the Spurs till 36 or so, which is 4 years. He is under contract until 2012, and I can see an extension for 2 years as a reserve.

Ya never know...

Maybe he'll join LeBron as a Net in 4 years. ;)

Hard to beat Cleveland at home this year. Maye fortunes will shift in Detroit? Cavs still have home floor advantage in the series so there's no real hope, but at least the Pistons can make it a little bit exciting.

Ouch, sucks for Mutombo and the Rockets. Not sure if they'll make it to the 2nd round - again...

That's a shame, because he says its over for him. He's one of the most respected/liked people in the league, and should be a future HOF'er imo.

Sad that he couldn't go out on his own terms :(

Easily one of the biggest, kindest hearts that has ever been in the NBA. He was an incredible person both on and off the court. Hopefully he recovers and can continue his mission/humanitary efforts.

I had a nasty sinking feeling when I saw that lowlight this morning while at the gym. Poor guy ... hopefully he recovers well from it.

BUmmer, I always liked him, even the finger-wagging, which I always considered more playful than disrespectful.

But HOF? No way.

from which teams point of view? Tyrus would be excellent if someone just smacked him in the head every game until he stopped dribbling and shooting 25 foot jumpers.

That's the way i feel about him too, but when's he going to grow up and learn discipline as a rule and not an afterthought? He's made strides, but...

Not with Casa-Del-Negro as a coach, thats for sure. Honestly, if he had Joke Noah's strategy (most of the time anyway) of just staying near the rim for rebounds, tip dunking, alley-oops, and blocking shots, he'd be incredible. Instead he thinks he is MJ, when in fact he cannot dribble, cannot shoot, and is 100% completely out of control with the ball.

He just didn't want to quit playing. He would've played until he was 50 if he could've. I agree he's not quite HOF material though. You have to do more then block shots for that.

Mutombo is an eight-time All-Star who won the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year award four times and stands in second on the NBA's career blocks list with 3,289.

One of the best defenders and rebounders in the history of the league. He only scored 10pts a game, but played 18 years and was a great embassador of the league. I think there's plenty of room without disrespecting others that haven't made it imo.

Wasn't familiar with Mutombo's achievements, pretty surprising.

Hard to imagine the final not being Lakers V Cavs right now. It would be a great final. I don't feel like the Cavs are a championship team just yet, and that the Lakers will win it all. I don't like the Lakers much tho :x - So, pulling for Cleavland. My pre-season pick of the Rockets winning it all kinda went down the tubes when McGrady was out for the season...or maybe they're better now, they'll probably make it out of the first round at least :D

Much of the same (although not DPoY, which often goes to a C or G) could be said for Horace Grant, Charles Oakley, Dennis Rodman.

In the last 25 years or so, there have been enough centers who have similar rebounding and blocked-shot stats to Mutumbo, but vastly better offensive games. Robert Parrish, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Shaq.

No championships, either.

IMO, HoF is for the Great, not the Very Good.

Off topic, but when looking up Motumbo, I found Dennis Rodman is BY FAR the most 'effective' rebounder in the history of the game.

Total Rebounding Percentage, 23.44% :Q

ok back on topic, lol

The Worm was pretty insane. He had a couple seaons where he averaged over 18 boards a game. He was getting over 5.5 ORB a game for almost half his career. That's outstanding.
