lol, apparently 3 out of 5 weren't good enough odds for Dreamgirls. ouch.

That's exactly why they didn't win. They fought each other for votes.

You're just justifying things because I'm sure you guessed Etheridge's song would win ;) I understand what you're saying, but I don't believe it. Either way, I was just making a joke...if the songs didn't deserve to win, they didn't deserve to win.

And this is a very varied montage.

A lot of people have been saying this for a while. A couple of the Dreamgirls songs were clearly better songs than the Inconvenient truth song, and they likely stole votes from each other. I don't think that's a poor assumption at all.

I know, I know, they say it whenever any movie has more than one nomination in a category. I look at it this way: let's say that that all 3 Dreamgirls songs were great, and there were 2 other good ones. Now, if there were 5 different movies (with one song from each) nominated and 3 of them were great and 2 good, would that mean that the great ones would knock each other out of contention? This is one of, if not the only, categories that can be judged not on the movie as a whole, but rather just a snippet of it.

oh well...I'm getting a little drunk, pardon any misspellings or wrong words. :)

I do not wish to see departed win because it did not do justice to internal affairs. that being said, I still think it's better than all the other nominated films.

I personally thought Iwo Jima was the best movie of the year, and one of the best and most original war movies I've ever seen. I don't think it will win though.

Why should you judge the film based on Infernal Affairs, Internal Affairs, whatever the hell it's called. Base the movie on its own merits.

I still get a chill down my spine every time I see Judy Dench's character in "Notes on a Scandal"...what a movie. I personally thought this was a pretty good season for oscar movies.

YES! Helen Mirren! Nice. Now for Whitaker and I'll be happy.

Is she trying to say that Oscar is a cross dresser? ;)

This is the first year I've watched the AA in HD and with 5.1. Anyone else think the clapping in the rear channels might be a little overdone?
