Its close to the end of the NFL season.

Espn put a poll today as to who should be the MVP.

Drew Brees, LT, LJ, Peyton, or Urlacher.

The vote is totally for LT.

But what does everyone else think?

Is it already locked for LT after his record breaker yesterday?

I see it a two man race between Brees and LT. I even see it possibly being a co-MVP year. Drew Brees already has 4033 yards passing, 25 tds, through 13 games. He already passed his pass yards last season and tied for TDs. He is projected to pass for 4964 yards this year which would be the 2nd highest single season passing yards.
LT on the other hand just broke the single season TD record and will likely add some more too it. Projected he'll get 36 tds total for the year.

Both teams would likely be no where without their respective player.

LT.

Drew Brees certainly should be considered. But LT is going to wind up with over 30 touchdowns on a team that is likely to win it's divison. That is insane!

He is a distant third. His problem is the numbers. The team has greatly improved, but so have the Saints and his numbers are nowhere close to Brees'. Half the TDs and half the yards.

Drew Brees. He's about to set all kinds of passing records in addition to taking a team that people were marking as last in the division to a high playoff seed.

He seems like a good candidate. But I just took the names from the espn poll. I personally don't see Urlacher being in contention. NFL MVP seems to be more or less an offensive award.

in the 50 years the Associated press has named the MVP, the only defensive players was Lawerence Taylor in 86 and Alan Page in 71. There was the kicker in 82. But I"m not really gong to count him.

Without question it should be Brees. He has taken that franchise from on the brink of dissapearing to being the team to beat in the NFC (after last night's thrashing of the Cowboys). LT is having a great individual year, but without him, the Chargers are still a good team. Without Brees, the Saints are in serious trouble.

I would say Brees. Chargers were good already even when LT wasn't breaking records.

NO ONE expected Brees/Saints to do this good, esp. Brees coming from shoulder surgery.

I hope BRees wins MVP and Payton wins Coach of the Year.

I have to say that the day a player wins an award the same year he gets suspended for 25% of the schedule for using performance enhancing drugs, is the same day I stop recognizing the validity of that award.

My vote is for Brees. He is having one of the best seasons EVER at QB.

Big props to LT but the Chargers O-line is great too which matters a lot for RBs.

do the crime, serve your time. He missed 25% of the season and yet leads the league in sacks. Cant say he isnt eligible if he is allowed to keep playing. I dont think he will win due to your way of thinking. The sports writers wont vote for that exact reason.

I have to go with Brees. Yes, LT is a freaking stud, but Brees without a doubt IS the most valuable player to his team.

With LT, you could drop any number of backs into that offense and they are going to have 20+ TD's.

But with Brees, he is making players out of names that nobody even heard of. Horn is decent, but he hasn't hardly played this year. Colston, Henderson, Carney, Copper, ect. He just spreads the love to everyone.

He leads the league in yards, is at the top of the league in passer rating, and has the best offense in the NFL.

And this is a team that had second pick in the draft last year.

That's MVP stuff right there.

While I agree with a lot of this post, I'll say that I doubt you could drop any back into the system and instantly get over 20 TD's. The Chargers are great as a team, but a lot of that is due to LT carrying nearly the entire offensive load for the first third of the season while the coach allowed Rivers to get used to playing. Heck, from what I remember, Rivers didn't throw more than a dozen times until what, like game 4 or something? I still remember hearing the radio broadcast of the Raiders game; "handoff to LT...handoff to LT..." repeat ad nauseum. It just so happened that Rivers is pretty darn good at his position, too.

LT didn't just arrive on the Charger scene this year. Your argument doesn't work.

well I like brees and all but I have to say LT. He's just an incredible running back. Also I'm sure if bree's actually had some pressure put on him he wouldn't have the numbers he's getting.

LT? I laugh every time I hear folks call him that. There was only one LT and he ain't the one. ;) But Ladainian is a front runner. But the guy who has really had the most impact on his team has been Steve McNair. He doesn't have gaudy numbers, but no one has transformed his team more.

It's even more than that. Rivers is so good BECAUSE of LT. Teams draw defenses just for him. They HAVE to play the run and Rivers carves up the secondary because of that.
