Not that there's anything wrong with that, I've just never heard anyone say that before.

You must not watch the games then, because I am certainly not the only one who believes that.

He has accomplished so much already yet he has at least another 4-6 good years left.
No part of my post was argumentative. That's cool man, that's cool.

Sorry if my tone offended you, that was not my intention.

I think Peyton Manning is probably *the* most important player of any team in the league. I simply couldn't imagine how the Colts would operate without him. But I think that Brees earned/deserves it more.

Brees brought something to NO that scraped that team up from a bottom sucker to the cream of the NFC. They also brought in a new coach and Reggie Bush, but Brees is chucking up 300+ yards a game w/ a 100+ passer rating, and doing this without a dominating defense to help them with field position or without a big name receiver. (No knocks against the often hurt Horn).

The MVP isn't about the most dominating player. It's about the one that helps out the team the most. Look at Steve Nash. As an individual he isn't dominating, but he took a ho-hum Suns team and turned them into divisional contendors.

That's what Brees did for NO.

I don't know, I think you're leaving out the intangables. LT rushing releaves a HUGE amount of pressure for the rest of the offense and even the defense.

You're implying that without LT, the Chargers would still be 11-2, clinched the West, and still be on a 7 game win streak? Maybe not that specific, but I doubt they would be anywhere close to those impressive stats.

Baltimore is 10-3 (with a win agains SD) without an overly explosive offense. McNair is a very good manager of an offense, but he isn't a dominating QB. Lewis is a decent back, but he isn't LT.

Chicago is 10-2 with a QB that is ready to be benched and a decent RB.

SD is 11-2.

Tell me what is similar between these three teams?

Defense can win you some games. In the AFC though, your defense can't take you as far as it can in the NFC. I think the Chargers would still make the playoffs without LT, but probably lose in the 1st round or so. I expect them to win the superbowl with them. ;)

QFMFT! But alas, it's alot easier to say LT than to say out his full name. It's like a freaking paragraph. I already call him LT myself. :(

QFIdiocy.

Not only does LaDainian Tomlinson have more syllables in his name, but he is arguably the greatest running back of all time.

So don't tell m we can't call him LT, you dipsh!ts.

Back on topic...This can't be much of a debate. No one deserves it more than LT. He's been in contention many years; and like Sanders, he was the only bright spot in San Diego for some time, helping bring them to just under mediocre status. Now that they have a team around him; he's that much better. For some one this good, in the midst of his best year...yeah, no question. LT FTW.

Drew Brees also deserves it for what he's done in New Orleans. However, a lot of things changed this year for them...so it's hard to attribute it all to Brees. You can argue that a large part of his success is the emergence of their rookies and new life brought by a new coaching staff. As much as I like Phillip Rivers (he is the shiz-nit), his starting hasn't changed San Diego too much from the departure of Brees. If he was awful, the team would suffer...but not as much as if LT was unproductive.

So...Brees deserves it too; just not as much as LT.

EDIT: Spelling

I've said it before and I believe it. At the end of his career, he will be considered one of the best backs to ever touch a pigskin.

without a doubt.

Maybe not 11-2, but they would probably be 7-6 or 8-5.

I took LT with the #2 pick and was called a noob for passing on alexander (johnson went #1).

How can you not pick LT.... not only does the man run for more TDs than ever other team, he has caught 3 and THROWN 2!!!!!

Lets go see Brees run some gadget plays and score two receiving TDs...

Sorry Drew :-\ you get frucked last year by SD making you play so you get hurt and now they fruck you out of the MVP... somehow I think he will get the last laugh though.

Now if there is a #1 dipsh!t award, it goes hands down to Eli Manning..... Giants FTL!

i'm a consumate LT fan for fantasy, but with the number 1 pick in one league, I went with Alexander this year (previous 2 years, he did put up more points than LT). I was actually debating b/w Alexander and LJ. Looks like this year should have gone LT, LJ, Tiki (I guess), Gore...and MJD? who'd-a thunk it?

well, Ladanian didn't go to UNC, did he? And as far as we know, he has not been busted for crack nor for soliciting favors from teenaged girls. It's one of 2...don't see where the confusion can come from.

That's ridiculous. LT is the greatest RB of our time, no doubt. But the fact is, the Chargers have a great defense that keeps them winning games. What would they be without LT? Not as good, for sure, but still good.

Without Brees, NO would be lucky to win a game.

I love LT, but he is not the greatest rb of our time. I believe Alexander and Johnson are both better backs.

I don't think I could with good faith say that Alexander and Johnson are "better" backs, just "different".

It's sort of like comparing Steve Smith to Marvin Harrison. Smith is the master at creating seperation, Harrison is one of the best route runners ever to play the game.

Is one better than the other? Yes. And no. They each bring their own style to the game. Same with comparing Tomlinson to LJ, and Tomlinson to Alexander. Although the LT to LJ comparison is a little more defined between the two.

At the rate LJ is going, his career will be much shorter than LT's. Larry simply plays too phyiscal of a game for a back getting 25+ carries a game to sustain.

You must be kidding though...surely you aren't serious.

As it has been said, backs are mostly judged on their ability to get to the endzone.

LT has reached 100 TDs faster than any other player in history. He reached 100 in his 89th game, four games faster than Hall of Famers Jim Brown and Emmitt Smith.

The man is only in his sixth year and shows no signs of slowing down. Not only can he run his way to the end zone but he is a most excellent receiver (as far as backs go).

If we can't compare players within a certain position, who the hell can we compare?

Let me guess you started watching the NFL this year right?

LJ has equal LT's yards on the ground this year. Actually out gained him so far by 5. LJ doesn't play in a good offense like LT, LJ is the offense for KC. LJ still has scored 13 tds this year and thats without Trent Green. What makes LJ impressive is he faces 8 men in the box practically the whole game. LT doesn't. LT gets the benefit of a passing game.

As for Alexander, are you kidding me. He has seriuosly outgained LT the last 3 years straight. He was hurt this year though and last year he put up 1880 and 27 tds. A healthy Alexander is a more explosive back than LT. And by the way, another factoid, both LJ and Alexander have slightly better career yards per carry than LT. No question LT is a great back, future HOF imo. But is he the best of our day? I don't know about that one.
