2003 Ford F-350 Power Stroke

Quiet diesels? Damn.

When I put my foot to the floor and let all 8 turbocharged cylnders loose, I want small children to think the world is coming to an end.

Hell. Yes. I. Want. One.

BUt I would still prefer a Cummins. Cummins is a med ium duty diesel, wile the offerings from GM and Ford are still light duty. But if this one edges out the power a Cumins makes ( although at a higer RPM ) I can't wait to see what the aftermarket does to it.

Base price: $43,550 (est. plus $745 destination)

Ow. Just tried to max out a Cummins. With every option avaiilable ( 4x4, quad cab, long bed ), I ended up with $43,590. everything that would add cost was added, even crap like the "sport apearance package" base is $23k.

Looks pretty good, too bad it's a Ford...

Hmm, kind of an ignorant, blanket statement. The sales numbers speak for themselves, or else there are just lots of stupid sheep out there. 😉

From the end of the article:
With diesels this good now in 3/4- and one-ton trucks, the only question is why isn?t a great turbodiesel offered in the half-ton segment?

Stay tuned! It's coming and you'll see a Ford first, which will be a diesel engine in a 1/2 ton. 😀

Not arrogant at all actually, most people just call it an opinion.

Give me a Cimmuns any day. It has 30% fewer parts than the V-8's from Chevy and Ford which means fewer potenial problems not to mention it is a inline six which is by design a very balanced engine. I am with Andy on this one, when I stomp on the pedal I want to hear that turbo spool up and for "small children to think the world is coming to a end"

I hafta agree, gimme the Cummins. Its pretty much the standard by which others are measured in terms of automotive use. And yeah, I like'm loud. Comes from growing up on a farm. Diesel tractors are loud, and under load get a wee smokey. I like that. Not some quiet, clean diesel. Bleh to quiet.

oh well.. at least they copied the best! 😀
What are you talking about? Dodge can't even build a Tranny to support their new Cummins That new one Ford is introducing sounds very interesting, and the 7.3 liter PS is still an amazing engine also and also has the best aftermarket of the current 3.

Everything about the latest Power Stroke is new, including the cast iron block, the iron heads, the advanced variable-vane single turbo, the high-pressure direct fuel injection system, the high-energy ignition and the super-duper-powerful drivetrain control computer. That conglomeration results in a 6.0-liter V-8 that pumps out 325 horsepower at a rev-happy (for a diesel) 3300 rpm and a vast 560 pound-feet of torque at 2000 rpm. It?s power that comes with elegance, grace and speed that hasn?t been seen before in a truck diesel.

High Energy Ignition ?

Gee, that must be pretty interesting seeing that diesels are compression ignition engines 😎

Yes there's an obvious similarity in look between the Ford and the Dodge, but the difference is that Ford manages to make the look work, whereas the Dodge to me has too much of a "pretty boy" look to it. Of course that's just my opinion, but to my eyes the SuperDuty pickups look a helluva lot better than the Rams.

the new Cummins will be thank Gawd... QUIET 😀 Noise is just a fallac symbol also, it's much more cool to have a quiet but fast or powerful depending on application then it is to have all that noise and be gutless wonders.

Hooray for diesels! Progressions like this help to initiate a new trend in diesel use in this country. I bet you didn't know that 40% of cars sold by Mercedes worldwide were diesels. People don't think of "upscale luxury car" and "diesel" in the same sentence.

The current one's are not gutless but the Duramax was compared to both of them in an uphill towing contest and the quiet max took em both to the bank, I'd definantly wait for the new Cummins, it's got much better emmisions too.

the detroit that was replaced by the Max, now that was a fine example of quiet power replaceing loud gutless, the other thing I refer to is people at race tracks that uncap their exhaust and end up going slower cause they have less backpressure. In general I just hate loud vehicles, it's another reason in Karts I'm looking at Rotax. 🙂
