Speaking of May/December things, I nearly puked when I saw Sir Ian McKellen fondling the knee of his teen-looking male "date" at the Academy Awards. I guess Gandalf picked himself a halfling? :D

My father was 40, my mother was 24 when they met. They were married, and happily so, until the day he died, for over 15 years. And if he were still alive, I have absolutely no doubt that they would be together still. So should he have been ashamed that he was 16 years older than his wife? That they had a stable happy relationship, and both were loyal to each other to the end? That they raised three kids in a normal two parent home, which most of my friends whose parents were the same age could never claim? Some people just mature faster than others, and need to be with someone older. Others need someone who will grow with them, it all depends on the person. No issue is ever black and white, especially when it comes to love.

<< because at 30, we are loaded with cash from our high paying tech jobs....
there's no way 20 year olds who just came out of college can compete with us.

it's easier to pick up chicks in your new toyota supra compare to <insert old beat up car of your choice>.
>>

What new supra? I thought they stopped making them in 1996 :)

Just wait until you're 33 and hook up with an 18 year old chick. Then ALL your friends will be jealous.

A liitle more input:

When the 30 year old says he'll pick her up at 7:30, he picks her up at 7:30.

He doesn't take her to the Golden Arches for dinner.

When he does take her to dinner he doesn't whine about how much it costs.

Oh, yeah, they didn't go to the restaurant on their mountain bikes.

Quite the norm. Most 20 year old guy's are still racin around the streets in ricers entertaining race/chase fantasies. Women are more intellectually mature and are more future oriented then the backward hat gum balls.

my xgf dated a 24 year old when she was 15, people just thought she was older than she really was. that's kinda sick, but at least she didn't do anything with the demented pedofile (he was korean/persian, wierd....).

she's always been hit on by older guys or so she says (and younger, i'm 21, she's 24).

i see a lot of biased shi7 in here, but whatever.....there may be 20 year old guys that are quite immature, but then again, hit the clubs and you'll see the same thing in 25-30 year olds.

hehe you know what's worse is when I was a college freshmen. In the dorms we had two 18 year old girls across the hall from me who dated guys about 35. This wasn't about maturity or anything like that, simply about the almighty dollar. One of the girls was always honest to me so I asked her what this was about and she didn't hesitant to tell me that it was about the nice car, the attention she got with being an older guy and the finer things. I didn't agree but I respected the fact that see didn't give me the usual BS. Then when this guy who looks like another girl's father came by to pickup her up I was informed that he was her boyfriend. She was the usual bitch who didn't talk to anyone really because she felt she was too good for most of us but yeah she always had a bunch of flowers and gifts laying around. The only good thing was that I'd munch on the chocolates she didn't like. Girls are attention whores so besides the money they also have this status and attention because of the older guy. The next year got even weirder but that's another story.

Don't be jealous, you youngings. Just wait for your turn, when you are 30, you'll see nothing wrong with dating 20-year-olds. :D

This is why I live in a college town: you get older every year, but the girls stay the same age. :)

Bin Laden is 42 and his youngest wife was 16 or 17. Just a bit more proof to add to the pile of guilt. :)

Why would a girl want a 20 year-old boy when she can have a 30 year-old man? hehe

It is most definitely about maturity, usually. Some times its about money, which also goes with maturity. When you're 30, you'll understand.

Well, maybe you won't. Some guys are still acting like they're 20 year-old "I-recently-got-out-of-high-school-and-I'm-gonna-chug-a-lug-this-beer-then-smash-it-on-my-forehead-w00t-that-rules-r0x0rs-man-your-base-is-this-sh-t-dawgers" when they're 30.

They're the ones who, at 30, will be creating a new thread called: "My 30 yearl-old GF just ran-off with a 40 year-old man...WTF???"

This is why I don't want to have too much money. I don't want to attract the type of woman that cares about that.

well between 20-30 a womans most fertile, so it doesn't matter all that much:p it gets weird when its a 40+ man with a 20 yr old girl though. sometimes weird stuff ilke that works out, like the bo derek example. think he met her when she was 16 or something, married her and they stayed together until he died:p definetly not the rule though:p marrying a woman thats way older then you is kinda odd though, unless you don't want children:p

after 30 a womans ability to concieve drops like a rock apparently:p

I was told that the ideal age for dating / marriage was 1/2 the males age +7.... so 30, 15 + 7 or 22.... thats not so far off from 20... My wife is 7 years my junior, I have no problems with that... I was 26 when I met her, and she was 19... :)

Me 42, Wife 29...

I look about 10 years younger than I am, wife just looks great, we started dating & by the time we figured out the age difference, it was too late, together 4 years, married 3.

The maturity thing is a factor, and the stability; also shared goals, I had an 8 year old daughter & she had a 6 year old daughter, our first date was to see a Disney movie with our kids.
