If you are getting a portable, Apple makes (based on my experience, opinions, and observations) some of the best laptops on the market right now. The build quality is top notch, and the battery life is obscene.
If you are getting a desktop then that is a trickier question. For an All-in-One, the iMac is fantastic, and only the Dell XPS All-in-Ones can compete with it in terms of performance, price, and looks. However, all-in-ones are not for everyone.
The Mini is great if you are looking for a small, quiet, relatively powerful (for its size, bear in mind it is not much larger than some external optical drives) system.
The Mac Pro is where it gets tricky. Obivously if you are looking for a true, solid workstation then look no further. It competes on price with workstations in its class, and it is a real looker. However, as plenty have demonstrated, a well put together hackintosh can get you a consumer equivalent, with similar performance for a fraction of the cost.
So, the real questions are these:
Are you fed up with Windows?
Are you afraid/unwanting to try Linux? (I am in that category, not afraid, just don't want it).
Do you want a killer laptop package?
Do you do a lot of home media stuff (picture organizing, music, movies that sort of thing)?
Do you want your system to just get out of your way and let you actually use your computer?
