Does that matter? It's not like they were going to vote for Joe anyway.
I do understand AOC being pissed off about it though, it was a pretty cheap headline grab.
It kind of matters. We still dont know how many blind zealots there are in America. I seriously doubt its 62 million.
In fact I am betting Joe stands a decent chance of winning if he can convince just a couple million of the previous Republican voters to swing his way.

Bingo, Fox is pushing this like a new brand of heroin on the streets..

I don't think that they would be pushing it if there wasn't a hint of truth to it. I'd sure that AOC is secretly pissed that Biden got nominated instead of a more progressive Democratic candidate.

Choosing her to second Bernie's nomination was just bad optics on the DNC's part.

You really think truth is a barrier of any kind to wild Fox conspiracy frothing? Might want to ask Seth Ritch's family about that.

So, Fox News' biggest story is one they completely made up that has zero meaning. Gotta pity people who glom onto conservative media. They are eating out of a trough of horse shit.

On what basis was this bad optics? Anyone that knows anything about AOC knows she is a big Bernie fan-he is what got her into politics in the first place. Why not grant her the honor of seconding the nomination of her mentor? AOC knows Biden would win the nomination, and she clearly supports him as compared to the only other feasible choice (His Donaldship).

Sometimes you naysayers get your panties all in a bunch about absolutely nothing at all. This was clearly one of those times.

That's not completely true; there's some corn at the bottom.

Obama saying the American Experiment will fail if Trump is re-elected is certainly a thing.

“stay safe” also.

*checks Trump Twitter feed*

I see we’ve gone to all caps again which indicates extreme calmness and not at all a mass of fragile vanity and narcissism that could sink a small continent into the ocean.

I haven't yet heard an Obama speech quite like that one. It was probably his least optimistic speech ever. It came across as a dire warning, and a very effective one.

Conservative media going through great lengths to convince themselves that the Dems are at each others throats.

the only reason it came out so quickly is because uh...they know it is tradition, so planned to make stories on making it anything but, and creating the lie within the entire rightwing derposphere as soon as the presses were spooling and the Fox morning people were done snorting their 4am lines off of unwilling interns' asses.

You....

You sincerely think that Biden stands apart as a politician that is unlike previous? That he is actually for the people - and not for the corporations?

That he is for systemic change and not for what makes donors happy?

I guess I'll take whatever you're smoking.

so then your plan is to vote for the Uranium-coated suppository made of AIDS instead?

It is misrepresentation of what is really happening. It makes it sound like she is snubbing Joe Biden, when that is not what is happening. It was a roll call speech, not a key note speech. She was there to nominate Bernie because convention rules state that all candidates that bring delegates to the DNC must be nominated by two people. It was a procedural thing.

Remember that until last night Joe Biden WAS NOT the democratic party candidate for President. He was the candidate presumptive. The actual decision on who will be the DNC's candidate is decided at the convention (that is the real point of the convention) by a vote of the delegates, which are assigned based on the states rules. It is a system very similar to that of the Electoral Collage. AOC was there representing Bernie. Even though everyone knew Joe had it locked up, it was her job to represent Bernie at the Convention.

they don't get it.

they are illiterate and they don't fucking care.

Some people prefer to not know. Even the idea of the Truth scares them because they sense that meeting it will disrobe them, descale them, reveal them.

AOC was beautiful! Literally. I too wondered at the beginning, she isn't going to mention Biden? Then I realized as any intelligent person should, that she had been handed the role of nominating Bernie and it would be inappropriate for her to mention Biden. INAPPROPRIATE, people at Fox should look up that word. It would change their careers. They would likely be looking for a REAL job.

Independents swung the vote in 2016 by ~100K votes over three states. Even half a million in the "right" states going back to D would crush Trump.

We HAVE to CRUSH TRUMP! Obama had it right yesterday... crush Trump now or the American ideals of democracy and freedom are dead, done, gone, kaput, over.

HL Mencken predicts one day a president will be elected who's a downright moron (1920)
--------------------------------------------------------------
“As democracy is perfected, the office [of president] represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move towards a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” - H.L. Mencken in the Baltimore Sun (26 July 1920)

Don’t know how informed before hand the media was told about AOC’s role. Very far left pundits on CNN coverage pissed that she was scheduled to only have 1 minute to talk. So NBC probably had that headline ready before it aired.

Anyone that has ever been to a convention, or even knows how they work, should have known that was her role. Hell, a one minute speech is long for a nomination speech. Most of the time it is literally nothing more than 'Name, Area you represent, I nominate Person as Position'. There can be hundreds of such nominations, it can take hours to even get through it with each person having only a minute.

If you just have a modicum of intelligence you should have been able to deduce what was going on. But if you are prejudiced, have expectations you could misinterpret things. I knew what was happening. I'm not very confused. Of course, people like Trump and Fox News are trying to snow you. My best advice is to avoid their propaganda as much as possible.
