Did you take responsibility?
Yup, but she wanted it aborted b/c of her parents (hardcore Catholics). Nothing I could say would change her mind. I already had my own place + job so it wouldn't have been that big a deal to support a baby at the time.
you asswipe. Catholics are PRO-LIFE! they certainly were NOT hardcore Catholics if they made her get an abortion.

got any other stories?

My guess is that the girl got an abortion without telling her parents. Either due to the shame of being unmarried and pregnant in a hardcore catholic family, or because she knew her parents would make her keep a baby she didn't want because they are hardcore catholics. But yea, it's not clear from Demon's post.
If they were in Maryland and she was 17 a parent has to be notified before an abortion takes place.

Maybe she wanted it aborted so that her hardcore Catholic parents wouldn't find out? At least, that is how I interpreted that post.

If you want an asswipe, here is one:

She only had three options. It is either (1) abort, (2) be stoned to death, or (3) do like Mary and pretend it is an immaculate conception.

She's catholic, not muslim

Or Jewish

I think the author was conveying sarcastic satire here as Moshquerade missed the point of the original post and directed a nasty personal insult toward the poster talking about the Catholic parents.

As long as this passage is still in the bible and as long as Catholics believe in the bible, then I'm sticking with my little joke:

Deuteronomy 22
13 If any man takes a wife and goes in to her and then turns against her,

14 and charges her with shameful deeds and publicly defames her, and says, 'I took this woman, but when I came near her, I did not find her a virgin,'

15 then the girl's father and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of the girl's virginity to the elders of the city at the gate.

16 The girl's father shall say to the elders, 'I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, but he turned against her;

17 and behold, he has charged her with shameful deeds, saying, "I did not find your daughter a virgin." But this is the evidence of my daughter's virginity.' And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city.

18 So the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him,

19 and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give it to the girl's father, because he publicly defamed a virgin of Israel. And she shall remain his wife; he cannot divorce her all his days.

20 But if this charge is true, that the girl was not found a virgin,

21 then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death because she has committed an act of folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father's house; thus you shall purge the evil from among you.
And I do hope you people see the intent of the joke.

Yes, I understand what you are conveying but that is part of Judaic scripture not Catholic scripture. Jesus specifcally forbade the use of stoning when he told the stoners (hahaha) that let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.

But I do think it was funny and Moshquerade's personal attack was suprising.

Yes, I can say that because I am as entitled to my opinion as you are yours "you asswipe".

And yes I am not seriously calling you a "asswipe" just pointing out that you personally atacked him without confirming the context of his post and then tell me I can't judge that you made a mistake without a verification post from him. That appears hypocritical.

And for the record you are absolutely correct that I can no more confirm his context than you can but the difference is that I didn't viciously personally attack him without said confirmation.

Honest religion question: what if the stoners are not religious or are of a different religion? Then they are not under that restriction. Can they still stone? Note: Jesus never said they don't deserve to be stoned. He only said that his followers should not stone.

Ding ding, we have a winner. On top of this her dad was a freaking alcoholic and didn't like me much either b/c I wasn't Catholic. So basically fear of the wrath of her strict parents made her choose abortion.

That really doesn't make sense. Jesus is specifically addressing what they deserve which is forgiveness and the turning of the other cheek and the removal of the sliver from their own eye before striking out at another. He didn't tell the woman, you deserved to be stoned but go and sin no more. I don't really see where he states anyone deserves to be stoned.

PS. I am not Catholic (or even Christian) so the above is simply personal opinion based upon my reading of the New Testament and may in fact be totally wrong. I can live with that.

Mosh is probably just pissed at me from another thread, hence the vitriol. ;) In any case, I saw that she linked MD and the notification law... but this happened years ago in NJ. And actually, it happened right before (roughly 6 months to a year IIRC) NJ passed their notification law. I remember calling my ex and telling her how lucky she was after that law was passed, b/c her parents still don't know to this day what she did.

It is like a bad law in the lawbooks. Then the president (the head of the law enforcement part of government) says not to enforce that specific law. What if the president changes his mind? What if the president is replaced? Why not just strike out the bad law to begin with?

WTF!!! Dont do that sh*t at my house on my daughters bday!!! take your statuatury rape ass someplace else. :| :| :|

I guess bro inlaw told the girls prents yesterday, and took the news well. :disgust:

Edit: Nephew is a scumbag, stupid F*cker quit high school with only one semester left. has no job, lives with mommy and daddy and looks like a bum. scraggy half ass beard/peachfuzz, full sleeve tatto on his left arm. baggy clothes.... so welcome to the world of medicide, WIC, Welfare, Foodstamps...

Oh noes!! It's the tattoo's. Only lower class trash have tattoo's, if she was to date someone without tattoos none of this ever would have happened. Tattoos = bum, yeah that must be it.

Note: I am not advocating his or her actions, they are disgusting, I will give you that. I do however take offense that in your attempt to portray him as a scumbag, you felt that mentioning that he had tattoos helped further your definition of a bum.

So I say to you. ..|.. and that finger is attached to an arm thats attached to a body with 10 tattoos.

yea he is a bum with a full sleeve tattoo, it just adds to his image. News flash for you, people ARE judged on their appearence so get over it.

Nah, we'd rather be content knowing that we're better than the rest of you because we at least try not to make such irrational and ridiculous judgements based on subjective criteria.

if the shoe fits........

And your point would be?

point is, take 100 people with full length arm tattoos: 95 of them make less than $13/hour. How do you support a kid on that with no degree. Thats his point.

HA, wow, stereotyping for the win. You have no clue.

Don't want to be stereotyped? Then don't cover your body with a bunch of stupid looking tattoos.

Yes, most people who don't have tattoos think you look ridiculous.

I have no tattoos. I don't generally judge others like that. Now, if you get a tattoo of GWB or something equally vile and reprehensible, THEN I'll judge you as ignorant and lower class. ;)

Otherwise, you have my innate respect as an equal human being and have earn any advancements or decline beyond that.

See and there is my point.

I work in a very high profile arena, I am outside of the norm when it comes to appearance at my job, ie, one in 5000 if not more. I however, do not look at the people around me who choose not to get tattoos and say "Wow you ignorant tools, you do not have tattoos, therefore you must lack the ability to express yourself" Nope, I don't because its a personal choice. One that people from many varied walks of life choose. So, tell me Im white trash, tell me im low class, whatever. I am not the loser this time.

You will be when you don't get that job you wanted because you just don't fit in with the image the corporation considering hiring you wants to project.

Like it or not, these things do make a difference and people do judge you by your appearance. Whether it's right to do that is a moot point.

No, what's actually 'right' is the ONLY thing that really matters. Ever. In anything.

Expressing yourself via art you voluntarily have applied to your body is no different that doing so vocally and should be held to the same measure when you are judged. In other words, it would be much different to judge a person by the colour of their skin or their hair or their eyes (over which they have no control) than by how they adorn themself.
