I think we can wrap up this thread now everyone! I've already said that we will reconsider our plans to do this again next year.

Oh no you don't, I haven't gotten my opinion in yet, and it's TOTALLY different and much more insightful than what's been posted before.

(j/k, I just want to b1tch)
I hope you read this and think about it when reconsidering for next year.
In a world where advertisers have completely given up on any type of common courtesy, this type of act is deplorable. I used to get dozens of spam messages a day in my Hotmail account, so even though everyone knew that address, I had to stop using it. Do you know how annoying that is? And in my head I'm blaming advertisers.
So when your wife does something like this, I just get angry. I'd already be REALLY fvcking tired of her monthly newsletters on my doorstep, so this would just be another annoying thing she was doing. I'm tired enough of advertisement that I didn't ask for, but now it's a flag, and it really does look pretty nice when a street is lined with them and I wouldn't want to mess that up. But at the same time, I hate that someone is putting an ad in my FRONT FVCKING YARD!!! If you don't see it as an ad, you've completely lost touch with reality.
So if I take this thing down, I not only mess up the look of the neighborhood, but I seem either lazy or unpatriotic. Fvck that, and fvck whoever (in this case, your wife) makes me look like that.
As for that person's reaction, I'm not going to say it was ok, but I will say that I'd do it to. They're probably tired of people putting sh1t on their door - your wife included - and if I were that person and I saw the chance to take out my collective frustration on your wife (which in my mind is just the personification of all the other advertisers I hate), you're damm right I'd yell at her. And I'd feel real good about it too.
The last thing I'll say is, I don't yell at ANYONE! I work at a place with security guards and a cafeteria, and I know the names of all the guards I encounter and all of the cafeteria workers that I go to for breakfast and lunch. I'm the kind of person that LIKES to be nice to other people. But in this instance, I have absolutely no sympathy for your wife, and I want to make it clear that if I'M saying this, imagine what less considerate people would do.
(Also, tell her that you might have a j0hnny in your neighborhood and you wouldn't want her to meet him, would you?)
NOW...
