That's also a good point. The American flag is never supposed to touch the ground. If it does then it is considered to have been desecrated. Once that happens proper protocol is to dispose of it in a ceremonial burning.
That isn't true. You're supposed to avoid having the flag touch the ground, but you don't have to destroy it if it does. If it touches and gets dirty, clean it and try to be more careful in the future.
