And if you committed armed robbery on the same store on multiple days? Its still multiple counts.
And? 🙄

what the hell kind of leftist, poor-innocent-criminal, the "man" is keeping me down drivel is this? So, Oh Lucky One, what was it that you did to be granted the privilege of immigrating to this country, anyway? Some great & heroic deed, or were you just standing in the right place at the right time? Is your ego, your sense of self worth, so fragile that you must discount fortune as a factor in everybody's life?
It's obviously election season in Florida, with the concomitant raving & chest thumping coming from the usual fascists in office. Which means that somebody is gonna get fucked, hard. Not because they deserve it more than any other defendant, but because authority figures need to be perceived as "tough on crime!" by "Making an example" of somebody, anybody that they can. Gotta be careful with that, because it's not like the citizenry would be willing to pay for that kind of incarceration for all the others guilty of similar crimes, or that the next dumbass committing armed robbery will even know or care about the guy they sent to rot for life. It just matters that a certain temporary perception be created among the electorate, that power holders remain in office, even if they must appeal to the worst instincts of the most gullible & self righteous voters to do so.
You qualify, because you derive perverse emotional pleasure from witnessing an authoritarian fuckover perpetrated against a member of a group you obviously despise.
And? 🙄
You really need me to draw the connection for you? 🙄
If you go and steal money from the same company and do it multiple days, it should be counted as multiple counts of embezzlement.

I don't give a damn about this 'rollin' with my homies' criminal demanding leniency for 7 armed robberies. Typical bleeding heart: caring more about the criminal's well being than the victims of their crimes, who, in all likelihood, have been permanently traumatized by them. But that doesn't matter does it? As long as you have a poster child for your 'conspiracy theory' view of justice.
Yeah, he is sentenced to 161 years for minding his own business and being black. Keep the faith.
Magnificent display of false attribution in the self righteous construction of the usual strawman.
Every criminal who commits multiple armed robberies should get 161 years, and the taxpayers should gleefully foot the bill for that. Let's privatize the prison system while we're at it so that politicians can be incentivized to do more of the same via graft & campaign contributions.
Nevermind that the ability to invoke harsh sentences quite capriciously is the signature display of totalitarian govt, while the acceptance of such is an open invitation to even more of it.
Just so long as the perp is shown to be guilty, then the whole idea of Justice, equal protection under the law & the prohibition of cruel & unusual punishment can be set aside in favor of smug & shallow emotional satisfaction, particularly when such efforts are aimed at individuals who are members of a despised minority.
again with the conspiracy theories and the OWS mindset.Magnificent display of false attribution in the self righteous construction of the usual strawman.

Yes! Let's just put all criminals in jail for life. Good thinking!
Also the kid is black...hrm I wonder if that had anything to do with the sentence 🙄 - Jesus it's tough to be a young black man in Florida. Quartavious is also an...interesting name.
Davis, who still maintains his innocence, was the only one of the six men charged who went to trial. The others cut plea deals that left them with sentences of nine to 22 years in prison.
"Habitual Criminal" should require three separate convictions, not three convictions at the same time...BUT, it should also carry the death penalty. If a person is that unwilling to live in society without preying on the rest of us, remove them permanently from society...and from the face of the earth.

You just demonstrated a perfect example of the straw man argument. Take a related part of the issue and make it your point and then tear it down whilst ignoring the real issue.
Bravo.
I have a solution to your delusion: don't commit felony crimes (or any crimes for that matter) and you won't spend time in prison. Less people in jail, less money spent on housing criminals. Everyone wins.
The ONLY problem I have with this is:
The rest hung the crime on him through plea bargaining...They should ALL have received the same sentence...or worse if they were repeat offenders.
This fucking country is too soft on crime...doesn't matter if it's a red or blue state, criminals get off pretty light in most cases...and criminals' rights seem to matter more than the rights of their victims.

What purpose other than pandering can widely disparate sentences serve? Explain that. I'm confident that other such perps definitely have not all received similar sentences in Florida.

We need to work on ways of making punishment harder and longer. I was playing WoW the other day and there's this dungeon called Scholomance where evil wizards torture people and use magic to keep them alive so they can be tortured longer. We should invest in something like that.
You'd be surprised. Some people get hardcore jail sentences with very little evidence. If you're a dick and the jury thinks you're a dick, that's all it takes. Looks like a dick --> let's execute him.But how many people are going to coincidentally have enough evidence to convict them of 7 armed robberies?

I haven't done jury duty before but I'm pretty sure I would do that too. Yeah the evidence is kinda sketchy but look at this goofball on trial. He has tatoos on his face and they're spelled wrong. Who cares if he didn't do this particular crime; he's still a piece of shit.
all said, my biggest problem is this guy thinking he is innocent. He committed crimes and admits he carried a gun.
Why was he packing? Of course, he will profess he'd never harm a fly. I am willing to bet with even $2000 in his hands and a security guard closing in, he'd kill that man.

As someone who has sat through the jury selection process I can tell you that the questions asked by both teams of lawyers and the serving judge are specifically designed to weed out jurors who will not based their verdicts strictly on the presumption of innocence until proven guilty along with a strict adherence to the laws in question of being violated. No that doesn't mean someone cannot lie and get on a jury but vast majority of people doing jury duty would rather not be there in the first place and most people with such views as you describe disqualify themselves in the juror selection process when both sides get to question jurors prior to the selection process.
