Like I said, according to their Iranian captors.

If you were being held by the Iranian IRGC, I wonder what you'd agree to...

I hope you're not trying to imply that there might be something wrong with confessions obtained under torture, or with people being held in shadowy military installations for indefinite periods of time...

I think the Brithish ship that these men came from would have intervened IF the men were NOT in Iranian territory.. OR why did the British ship allow these men to be taken into custody?

The soldiers have radios that work.

This shows how far left some lefties have gone. They now gladly swallow anything a far right wing theocracy feeds them.

The sailors have admitted to being in Iranian waters.

...according to their Iranian captors.

The waters themselves are very disputed territory, so only the Iranians believe that it's their territory.

These soldiers were kidnapped for political purposes.

Apparently the soldiers agree with the Iranians.

But your assertion they were in Iraqi waters comes from the British.
No, the waters themselves are disputed territory. Both Iraq and Iran lay claim to them. Read much?

I didn't realize the British were at war with Iran... so, what's your point again?

Open and shut case. The British troops were in Iranian waters, and Iran had every right under international law to seize and detain them. The Iranians have as much right to control their seas as we do ours.
it's scary how willing you are to buy the Iranian version of events... including their announcement of these so-called "confessions."

want to buy a bridge?

To palehorse74 who asks---want to buy a bridge?

Naw----but you sure seem to be willing and able to sell a defective bridge to the rest of us.
Another bridge to nowhere.

^^ I am being sincere.. WHY did the British ship that these men came from allow them to be taken into custody..

>Because they have nobody on board who can speak Iranian or what?

>They had no chance to stop the Iranians from taking them?

>There is no way the Iranians snuck up on the soldiers .. they had radios.. they told their commanding ship they were being taken into custody etc.. etc..

Well if we're keeping score, the Iranian government has lied fewer times to the American people than their own government has. The British did the same to sell their public on a sham war.

Who's version should be buy?

I love how some people want to start a war over 15 British marines. Who cares? They shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place. I'm not going to lose sleep over this and I don't care if Iran throws them in prison for 100 years. I love all the fake message board sympathy. Where are the people with the flowers? LOL.

After some pondering, I now think this is indeed a case of Iran rattling it's saber for PR purposes. If the British contingent were SBS or SAS on a mission of infiltration/espionage, I sincerely doubt any female personnel would have been taken along.

Iran really stretched to use the term "aggression" as well; there are no reports of hostile fire from either side in this incident.

Guess we'll know more when they're returned though...

What if they were our soldiers? Oh yeah, you?d burn them in effigy for being over there. Then if you can?t burn them, let Iran take them for you. Sympathy for attacks on us and our allies is what cannot be tolerated. You need to be held accountable for being a traitor.

Most people in Britain would like them to come home safely...

I think they should just hold Ahmadinejad upside down and shake him until marines come out, then deal with the political situation later.

I am guessing they were too far away to do anything and had to watch it go down. To fire on the Iranian's would have put their own captured soldiers at risk.

Yep, that confirms it, you're a worthless POS

I'm convinced that if many of you here were alive back during WW2, and heard about the Bataan death march, your response would be something like, "so what, we rounded up all of the japanese in our country so whats the big deal?".

I'm convinced that you have no clue about war except for video games. People like you are a bunch of phony keyboard commandos.

Whatever you say captain.

This new found love for Iran is really pathetic. Are people so irrational that just because they dislike Bush and the US invasion of Iraq, they have to side with one of the most pathetic, repressive, and terrorist backing regimes in the world? Iran represents everything the left wingers dislike about Bush and theocracy, only elevated to a much higher degree, and yet they seem prepared to worship Ahmedinejad for confronting the West.

Wow, this coming from someone that thought that the British that were captured were spies because they were in inflatables......

Edit - WTF is a keyboard commando? Could I call you a "keyboard cop" if you are against crime but have never been a Police Officer?

I guess getting dragged into a decade-long engagement based on lies, mortgaged on your children's future, creates a bit of ill-will domestically and worldwide.

Just a guess.

So, because you dislike the Bush administration and all of the Republicans and Democrats that voted for this war, you will side with Iran over the US and England? Nice.

This is a question about credibility, so that means I wouldn't side with the US or Britain.

Now show me concrete proof of a nuclear weapons program, and I'll change my mind.

Show me where it says in the NPT that Iran cannot enrich its own uranium.

Even the IAEA's own reports show no enrichment activities have been diverted for weapons purposes.
