My sister (only sibling) is getting married soon, and I would like to know how much I should give her?
Here's the situation. Right after the wedding, they're going on a honeymoon, which costs over $5000. I think this is a tremendous waste of money, and would be willing to give them more if they were a little more modest with their honeymoon, and wiser with their money.
I have a mortgage to pay for, and about $10,000 in low interest debt (around 4%), which I am perfectly capable of covering with my monthly income, however I am stretched fairly thin with only a couple hundred dollars leftover each month after all expenses (house, 401k, debt, utilities, insurance, etc...)
The bride and groom are both in decent financial shape, making about 65,000 to 70,000 between them, with a good mortgage and no kids...
I am just going to give her cash. So how much should I give?
