My Publix + Total Wine beats WalMart a lot of the time.

When you go to a WalMart you are exposing yourself to potential issues from that type of clientele (bottom feeders). You may have your child ass raped there just letting them play with the video games.

The place reeks of BO usually and I think I have seen fecal matter on the floor.

Yeah, around me (MA) we have Market Basket. They're cheaper than Walmart and have much better selection. There are a few others, but they're grimey, so I prefer Market Basket. The only downside is if you don't go early or real late, it gets insanely crowded.

My small town has two Walmarts. One is just down the road and the other is within 10 minutes. I don't care for Walmart anyway. I just buy socks, underwear, deodorant, shampoo and soup there. Everything else is carp.

America fuck yeah! http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/

Walmarts near me have long lines and never enough cashiers. They don't have enough people at the store to stock shelves, so it's always hard to find shit.

It's like management is not scheduling enough employee hours as a means of cutting costs/savings.

Well, they have cut it to the point that their service is so horrible that I avoid walmarts in general and consider them the store of last option.

Yup, chronic understaffing. Saves costs, and motivates some people to work harder.

Same thing at the one I worked at for 2.5yrs. They'll lie to you about it as well. "We're trying to hire people, but we just can't seem to get anyone."

Sure you are.

Targets great but they don't have half of what Walmart does. So if i shopped at Target not only would i pay more for the same shit. But I'd have to go to another store to buy the shit Target doesn't have.

Wee, let me spend half a day shopping instead of an hour where I also spend a lot more money just to avoid wally world.

My dad works in North Dakota half the year and in the city of Minot they only have one Walmart. Because of the oil boom out there they're packed full of people and frequently out of stock on grocery items. He said Minot is just a mad house anymore. McDonald's is paying (I'm told) around $15 an hour to start. Who says home grown energy doesn't create jobs?

You must buy a hell of a lot of pork rinds and american flag boxer shorts.

I like Walmart well enough. I never understood the vehement hate that so many people have for it. With that being said, I prefer not to shop there but sometimes it's just the right place to get the right stuff at the best price.

I tend to get most of everything from Trader Joe's & Costco with random trips to Target. Wife & I have a baby on the way, and Walmart has some handy stuff at a reasonable price. I used to live within close driving distance of Walmarts, but I've moved to the L.A. area and I've discovered that Southern California hates big box retailers. I think the closest one is ~25 - 30 minutes away from me.

I think they can be a better company in terms of pay and so forth, but I don't hate them for being successful.

I can see Walmart being a great asset if you have a baby. Be prepared to buy the pallet load of pampers. LOL!

You dislike the ambiance at Wal-mart, but shop at BigLots?

BigLots has interesting things and cheap prices. That makes up for the lack of ambiance. Walmart has neither interesting things or cheap prices, so it's just irritating.

just to get something clear.

They average $1.8M profit an hour.
So $43.2M per day.
Average 35M customers a day.

They only make $1.23 profit per customer that visits? Seems off. I thought it would be higher.

Going to Walmart today to pick up a site to Store order

Went to Walmart to get one thing...Cole Slaw.....and I'll be damned, they had everything but. Potato salad in 10 flavors, macaroni salad...but no GD Cole Slaw!!! Just empty spots on the shelf (which is one of the things that Walmart has been noted doing nationwide is cutting back on employees and letting shelves go empty).

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Yes I've talked about this out of stock problem in this thread as well. It is really annoying and frustrating and one amongst other reasons I barely go to Walmart anymore.

It is more than due to employee cutbacks. I've seen things out of stock for weeks at a stretch. Same old empty shelves

The bananas fact would be more interesting if lube was the second biggest seller.
