Although he was hard to understand (strong accent) this doctor helped me come to terms with my conscientious objector status.While I am still not thrilled about being deployed to Iraq, I at least understand how doing so to protect my fellow soldiers is a good thing.

he was born and raised in virginia, went to Vtech. said he wanted to get out of the military. he got picked on in the military. which the previous col said as well, called beloved patriot, etc.

never went to iraq. dealth with soldiers coming back from iraq.

After reading these latest updates, it sounds to me like stress from the job might have gotten to him. Clearly that doesn't excuse what he did, but no terrorist operator becomes a military psychologist, particularly a major. I mean, why put in all the time into a field that isn't even combat arms if your ultimate plan is simply to shoot American soldiers at home? I read in at least one of the stories that he was getting ready to be deployed and maybe that's what drove him over the edge.

Regardless of the circumstances, I found myself very upset after reading about this story a few hours ago. I know that our servicemen (and women) die every day in Iraq and Afghanistan, but something about getting killed, at home, at a military installation strikes me as tragic. 🙁
 
Godless, maybe you should check your sarcasm detector godless...or maybe mine is going off on everything. Pretty sure amd is being sarcastic though.

There are reports, though "unconfirmed" so far, from multiple outlets, including the Huffington Post, about his late-in-life conversion. I really don't feel like sorting through a hundred websites with people jerking off to another reason to hate brown people to find anything more substantial though. Not that I expect much out of the media, what with one outlet practically frothing at the mouth implicate Islam and another refusing to even acknowledge it.
 
News Update the killer is alive. He was only wounded.

They say he was supposed to be deployed back to Iraq.

Born and raised in VA. Attended Virginia Tech. Has always been a Muslim and against the War.
