$1000 - What would you do?

I got to thinking about something.... what would you do with an extra grand? Two rules: You can't invest it and you can't use it to pay off debts or bills.

Personally I'd go find a beat-up first-generation Mazda RX-7 and start fixing it up as a street-legal racecar, mainly by strengthening, stiffening, and lightening the whole thing and by improving the induction and ignition.

I can think of a few ideas that most people might pick, but I'm afraid to spoil any creativity here.

umm...not sure. i'd probably just buy a bunch of stuff that i wanted.

I am considering putting my tax refund toward an IRA and purchasing some stock especially since I would have to pay back about a 1/4 of it in taxes next year. While it is tempting to consider upgrading things or buying toys, there really isn't anything I need right now that isn't already included in my month-by-month expenses.

I would probably buy a new laptop if I couldn't invest it. My laptop is over three years old and is starting to show its age. Only one USB port works, the battery sucks, and the power cord needs to be in the perfect spot for it to charge.
