I would go buy some new kakhis and long sleve polo shirts.
I would pick up a couple of the new NHL Jerseys. Probably a Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers jersey. :)
I would get my ice hockey pads fixed up a little bit.
Hrm, with whats left, I would buy some computer accessories and maybe a few games. :)

even if that was an option given by the op, how much interest do you think you're going to get with 1000 bucks? :p

I would sell my Rotel RB-1070 and RC-1070 and use the extra grand to buy a NAD Master Series M3 Integrated.

I would go to home depot and purchase all the materials need to make a bluetooth helmet. So the idiots who use the annoying headsets can be identified as talking on the phone and not to you or some invisible person. Then using the rest of the money to market it and hopefully get it mass produced.

That kind of makes it investing though...

Same here. I never compartmentalize money. I treat every dollar I get, no matter the source, the same. Finding $1000 on the street doesn't mean I need to go out and waste it.

Read the original post: You can't pay off debts or invest it (which I also interpreted as saving it)

$1000.00 honestly won't buy much in 2007. Now if we up this to 10,000.00 (adjusting for 2007 prices) we might have an interesting topic!

With $10,000.00 I would build a new Intel Core Duo based computer and but 2 new (or cool used) guitars. Now that sounds like fun to me!

Nope.... $10000 requires essentially no creativity, and $100 wouldn't get you much. $1000 is just right to extract the most interesting answers, IMHO.

Answers like these are the sort of sideways-thinking answers I was looking for. It's interesting how people dream about spending lottery winnings with no mention of simple or mundane things that they would actually be able to afford with a few more bucks.

Buy some new tenny shoes.
Get a tuneup for Smokey.
Buy a printer.
Pay an upholsterer to repair the staples coming out of the interior on driver's side rear door on Smokey.

Don't know what I'd do with the rest since I couldn't pay bills with it or invest it.
