12 miles on the trails at Lake Louisa. Stopped to take a pic of a gopher tortoise, it was totally unafraid of me. Cool critter.

+10 this morning.

I hate humidity. There wasn't a part of me that wasn't dripping wet. It looked like I'd been swimming.

That's how it is here in Florida every day. I always come back to point A looking like a drowned rat. lol

8 this morning, really good pacing considering how I felt after yesterday's run.

+3.5 this morning. My first run in a week and a test of my IT Band. Felt good, so I am hoping it stays that way.

Not looking forward to my run tomorrow I've got it planned for 12-13 miles around a local island called Grosse Ile, going to get out there at 8am and hope that the humidity isn't completely suffocating.

Yeah, I've experienced it a few times. Much respect for you people getting in your miles out there in those conditions!!!

+12.4

Not gonna lie that was a rough 12 miles. Heat index blew by 90 (!!) at about mile 8(local time was 9:40am), I hit the wall and bonked hard not long after that despite having plenty of food and liquids. The last 4 miles I just pushed on as best I could. Heat/Humidity was just awful.

I started working out again about 6 weeks ago. Since then, I've logged about 40 miles. I'll probably batch it up and keep adding to the total in bulk.

A massive 3.2 miles tonight, part of a new workout program endorsed by the fanatics in my ultrarunning group. No running "off" days any more.

+4 easy miles at the track last night with the family. I was amazed to see a few people, in 85+ degrees and 80% humidity, wearing hoodies, long pants, heavy track suits, and the like! People still buy into the old myth of "sweating" off their excess weight!?! Weight loss which is really only water loss comes back, people! Plus, in weather like we had last night, it's probably pretty dangerous to dress like that. Not a surprise that most of them only lasted 10-15 minutes before leaving. I can't imagine trying to exercise in the middle of summer dressed like that.

Yeah, I don't really get it either. I ran a 5K a few weeks ago and the temperature was 90F at start time. There was some teenager running in blue jeans and a sweater. An honest to goodness wool pullover sweater. I ended up passing him at about mile 2 and he didn't look like he was feeling so good. Still had the sweater on though, lol.

It is insane what people do to lose weight. I work with a lady who only eats 1200 calories a day and she's been on 1200 calories a day since March she's lost over 80 pounds in 4 months and looks terrible now. Cheeks are gaunt and she looks like she's now losing muscle mass because she has no more fat to burn. I keep trying to warn her that she needs to increase her caloric intake but she insists that if she eats more than 1,500 calories/day she'd gain all her weight back. Meanwhile I eat close to 2500 calories/day but changed where those calories come from and started exercising. I've lost 29 pounds since Jan 1st, down to 206lbs(I'm 6ft tall). That is a much healthier and gentler weight loss than crash dieting.

Anyways ran an easy 2.5 mile recovery run in the blazing heat again today. Was 79F at 8am 🙁 then did 20 minutes of weight lifting

3.5 miles tonight and it was hot. I have a lot of respect for you guys that do this high heat / high humidity running on a regular basis. The good news was my IT band felt fine.

6.2 miles this morning. Had something really cool and something really lame occur on this run, both within a mile of each other. I had a small owl strafe my head and land on a branch about 50ft ahead of me. It calmly stared at me as I ran past it. Then around the bend I encounter some ninja wannabe douche out practicing his ninja weaponry in the middle of the trail. First it was a short staff of some kind, when I ran past him again on my way back, he was twirling some chain thing around looking really really stupid. At 5 am... WTF? lol

+7 miles this morning
I had some tightness and soreness of my right thigh after yesterday's treadmill run, and I think I just made it much worse. 🙁 An injury the week I begin my marathon training cycle - fabulous.
