I love running in the rain. I hope it rains on me tomorrow. 50K at 90F and 75%RH (or higher) is what's on tap.

I love rain running as well.

Forecast for this weekends festivities

Saturday tough mudder 77F 70% chance of rain
Sunday tough mudder 79F 30% chance of rain.

I'm hoping it rains Saturday just to really separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak. And from the looks of it the course was super waterlogged and outright flooded in some spots.

Good luck to all this weekend!

+12 miles down at Tough Mudder #1 of the weekend.

It poured rain I mean absolutely torrential downpours from mile 4 to mile 7. After that the entire course was a giant slopfest. Mud with the viscosity of concrete and elmers glue. Standing water everywhere, huge portions were unrunnable because of the ankle to knee deep mud in places. Despite all that I finished in 2hr 40 minutes.

I'll be back tomorrow for tough mudder #2.

20 miles on Saturday, round and round Lake Baldwin. It was hot but fun as I was running with dozens of friends and many other runners at a fat ass event. And then 5.4 miles on my own this morning, it was total carnage. My energy was zip, it sucked.

Tough Mudder #2 done! Two Tough Mudders in 25 hours! Hell yeah 🙂 Yesterdays time was 2hr 40min todays time was 2hr 43 min! Not too bad! Feeling really proud of myself today.

Edit: Also have to give a shoutout for my Merrell Trail Glove shoes. No hotspots no blisters after running 24 miles in 25 hours in soaking wet muddy conditions both days. And never slipped or fell at all. A damn fine shoe.

Dang, congrats Mega and TraumaRN! Here I am, trying to enjoy some mellower training, and you guys are just making me feel like a slacker and wanting to get out there and hammer some miles! Impressive stuff, both of you!

5 measly miles for me.

Thanks! I'm working towards running a 50 mile ultra next spring, this weekend was a great test of my mental toughness. I passed with flying colors despite the sometimes deplorable race conditions. It also gave me a chance to just keep running through the pain(on day two mile 9ish I just stopped hurting and felt fresh again, that feeling persisted for a couple hours actually), and given my near identical finishing times, the ability to pace myself correctly. I also made sure to eat and drink with the assistance of my girlfriend while still running. Power walked the uphills and attacked the downhills. And while I'm taking a well earned day off, (I'm so bruised and scraped up I look like I got beat with a baseball bat) I feel good enough that I could run a few miles if I wanted to.
