3 yesterday am, attempted 5 yesterday pm cut to 3 due to epic thunderstorm hurling purple bolts of lighting in my general direction, 8.5 miles today lightning-free. Rounding down to 14 to give us...

We managed to get 6 in before the thunderstorms hit. I'd hate to be out in the woods when a storm hits, especially when the storm is violent like they were tonight.

Haven't posted in a long time as I'm still battling achilles tendonosis. Will have to go back to the Doctors for another game plan.

That sucks. Hopefully you can get it sorted out and get back out there more regularly, and pain free 🙂.

BTW, is "tendonosis" the same as "tendinitis"? I don't hear the former term as often.

7 miles last night and an easy 5 this morning. My shin splints, which had moved down into my ankle, are slowly getting better with each run. I think the last couple of weeks just took a lot out of me.

Two more days until my first race of the year!

Tendonosis develops after tendinitis where microtears develop and create scar tissue. From what I can gather, after going thru rehab, not all of the scar tissue was dissolved.

My doctor talked about possibly performing some kind of shock therapy(ultrasound at a different frequency/wave length) that may hopefully break-up the scar tissue.

After just running a few miles, my achilles starts hurting and doesn't dissipate for a couple of days, even walking is painful.

Ouch. Sounds awful. So repeated tendinitis can lead to tendonosis?

Best of luck with the therapy man.

12 miles today with my boy. And my daughter did her first 8 miler today! She totally stunned me when she just kept on running. 🙂

That's awesome Mega! How long until you all do a family 50-miler? 🙂

I drove to Mendon Ponds and did a real easy 6 on the nature trail. Gorgeous day.

I'm not sure if she'll be interested in a 50M, but she may be interested in middle distance trail races. She's doing the Medved Madness and may do the 25K Finger Lakes Fifties.

About 4 miles today in the first run since hurting my ankle two weeks ago. It doesn't hurt much now, but it's definitely not ready to go any farther yet. I'll be sticking to this distance or less for at least another week.

10 yesterday at race pace. Went pretty well, started petering out during the last mile but this has been a rough week.

20 this morning. Hit right around 7:00s for the first 8, then smoothed in the last 12 between 6:35-6:50 pace.

Unfortunately, I'm developing some plantar fasciitis (kind of a recurring problem). Gonna start wearing my night splint and hopefully that takes care of it.

Good effort allies.

My eldest and I did 13. My daughter did 8 again today. And my younger son did a 12 mile run, right out of nowhere. Awesome!

Pulled out the win at the Spring Ahead 10k this morning in 33:48 🙂.

The leader opened a bit of a gap at 1k. I couldn't respond immediately, but I slowly accelerated the pace to maintain contact. There were a number of rolling hills and the pace was a bit slow again at 5-6 km. However, I really drew close when he died on a hill past 7km, and I finally reeled him in at 8km. I threw down a 3:08 km (5:02 mile pace) to make sure he didn't come back at me. I won by 18 seconds.

I think the course was a bit long (100-150m gap between the 9km marker and the "1k to go" marker), but I'm still happy with the race, so it's an unofficial PR and there was still some left in the tank.

@ Mega - great family run there! Everyone's coming along!

@ allies - Pretty quick finish on that 20 miler. Sounds like you're in shape despite the heavy week. Stay healthy.

I was waiting for this update. Averaged somewhere between 5:23-5:26 depending on the true length of the course? Smoking! Nice run!

@Mega: Does your wife run? How are you able to breed a pack of runners so effectively 😛

Thanks guys. My wife doesn't run (never has), but I recently learned that my mom was a cross country runner in high school. And my father did marathons in his youth, too. I guess that has to explain it.

IB - freakin awesome race man, congrats. What's next?

kamper - take it easy on the ankle. I sprained mine on 2/13 and didn't take it easy. now it still aches and I have to wear a brace when I run. I hope I'm able to follow my own advice in the future.

Thanks Mega. Next up for me is the Vancouver Marathon on May 2.

Interesting that both of your parents were runners in their youth. My dad was pretty fast back in the day, and he's the one who got me interested in running. My mom didn't run when she was young, but she runs recreationally now and does a couple 10ks each year.

god damn allies, IB and mega!! You're making me feel like a slacker!!! Great job to all of you!!!

I only did 15 miles today. I'm lame, I know.
