@ Mega - nice family run. Sounds like your daughter is progressing well.

Did 8 miles today, including 6x100m strides. Shin splints are touch and go, but the leg feels surprisingly good after stretching and walking around this afternoon.

Thanks IB. My younger son went also, I left that out somehow. His knees are bothering him so he cut it short at 6 miles, but he's a good runner too.

Sorry to hear that you are having "training issues" also. Hopefully it abates some. I'm having my own problems. Groin still hurts, but the pain has moved from the right side to the left. And the ankle I sprained on 2/13/10 still bothers me some. ugh

On a side note: Happy Easter to my fellow runners/hikers/power-walkers.

Cheers Mega - hope you're getting the ice on the groin/ankle to keep them in check.

19 miles today, 81 for the week (a new PR).

Next week is a mini-taper, and I race a 10K in a week.

Wow, nice 🙂

42k for me today on the bike. Relatively slow because the trail was packed. This has nothing to do with running, except that it's what I'm doing instead of running while waiting for my ankle to recover and it feels weird not to post in here on a Sunday 🙂

It was incredibly nice out today along the Toronto waterfront. Even though I'll probably be inside for the rest of the day, I'm considering putting some more sunscreen on because it smells like summer!

10K race yesterday. 2 mile warmup or so, 1 mile cooldown or so. Ran 36:29, which is an official PR, although I did run a minute faster in the last 10K of last year's Boilermaker. Was sharing the lead with another guy for the first 2 miles or so, then he dropped off and I shut it down and basically tempoed it in for the win. My legs were not feeling so hot and were very glad that I didn't have to run the full thing at 100%. About 9 miles total for the day. Ate a lot of flapjacks afterward and took a nap too. Today I did 20 miles as what felt like an easy pace but turned out to be 6:53 pace!

Wow, awesome effort Scorch. You are THE motherfvcking man.

We didn't run today, we gave the wife all of our time and attention. She puts up with our crap most every other day, we give her holidays and other important family days. Compromise...

Another easy 6 on the trails this afternoon. Nice run, did it at my 50M pace which is actually not very fun to maintain.

Nice Mega, now is your 50M pace faster or slower than normal running pace? 😛

I did 6 as well, real nice and easy in crazy thick pea soup fog. I couldn't even see cars coming at me until they were within 100m with their headlights on.

Congrats on the 10k win Scorch! You showoff 😛.

Took yesterday off, and did 5x600m reps at 5k pace tonight (1:53, 1:52, 1:55, 1:54, 1:56). 9 miles total.

6 to 6.5 mph is my 50M pace. I'm training myself to be able to do that for the entire 50 miles, that'll put me in at just 8.33 hours, a very respectable time for a trail 50. That 50k last year put a serious hurting on me, I learned a lot. I'm trying like hell to avoid a deathmarch situation in July.

So, you had fog yesterday afternoon? It was on and off cloudy and we did get a slight sprinkle while we were out but definitely no fog. I'll see that this weekend though, it's always foggy out there early in the morning.

I was lazy for far too long (moving into a new house didn't help) but now that I'm moved in I'm only a couple of minutes away from a great waterfront area that's excellent for a quick 3-mile run. Beautiful scenery, always a breeze, and plenty of pretty ladies to keep me motivated to exercise 🙂
