Aw man, you guys didn't get into Boston?? I'll be there all by my lonesome??? 🙁 I'll have to requalify for next year so we can have a FE 🙂

To answer your question, RB, I usually don't do much lifting at all. I don't want to bulk up too much and slow down. But I do a lot of bodyweight exercises like puhsups and pullups and dips. I just haven't done them in a while so I'm nice and sore today! 🙂 I did 6 easy miles today too.

I can't get myself to go running tonight. Running in the dark is starting to get to me. I'm going to try and walk up early tomorrow and go for a run before work. Here's hoping, I can walk up early...

I was pressed for time tonight, but I managed to squeeze in a 5 miler on the roads. At least the scenery is almost like being on a trail on the roads out here in the sticks.

I hear ya Caveman...running in the dark sucks. You have to stick to the roads so you don't roll an ankle on the dark trails.

At this time of year, it's pretty much dark both in the morning and evening, so it doesn't really matter. Man, I miss summer running.

9 miles tonight. Got absolutely soaked again.

I know man, I'm disappointed too 🙁. But I have it marked on my calendar to register for 2011 when it opens in Sept 2010. Definitely will be there.

You can be the guinea pig this time around 🙂.

I ran 4 miles on Friday and did a 5K XC race yesterday (first XC race since college in 2005 I think). I ran 18:13 for 5th, and the first 4 guys were all my friends from college too. So we swept 1-5 🙂 I got in 8 miles for the day. So add another 12!

Did a fairly easy 10 at Mendon Ponds today. I say fairly easy because it was on the trails that Mega ran for his 50K, and while the pace was easy, he can attest that the terrain is not. It was a good run though and there were a ton of people on the trails; perfect day for running!

+3 First time trail running with my dog Khan, yesterday. He did better than me. Lots of hill climbing wore me down and caused me quite a bit of achilles discomfort. Thankfully, my achilles feels fine today.

Nice, great weekend for you and running eh? Yep, those trails can be challenging. The hills tend to wear you down. And great job on the XC race, way to go.

My boy and I did somewhere between 12 and 14 miles on the Interlocken Trail yesterday. We don't have a GPS and there aren't any mile markers on the trail so I have to estimate with a crappy map. The trail is fairly technical with tons of roots and rocks, some hills, and MUD. We were amazed at the mud bogs and standing water we had to run through. I looked like swamp thing when I got back to my car. My poor son fell 7 times, though he didn't damage anything but his pride.

And to any of the hunters who cursed and swore at us yesterday, sorry but the trails don't belong to you.

Sounds like a good run Mega! Although I also get ticked at hunters who yell at us for running on "their" trails. If I'm not mistaken, they shouldn't even be hunting within a certain radius of a trail like that, no?

I did an easy 6 miles today. I started out kind of slow, and although the remainder of the run was quite hilly and I felt like I kept pace, I actually ended up speeding up for the rest of the run. So that was cool

Scorch, are you planning to attend the Fleet Feet Black Friday Run & Waffle event? I'm trying to talk my wife into not missing me on Friday. Haha, wish me luck.

Nah, Mega, I'll be working. Although waffles and nutella do sound pretty tempting! Maybe I can convince the boss to let run out to grab breakfast 🙂

easy 5-ish miles today followed by core work, pullups and pushups. 12,350

+ 9.2, way to frickin far

Good job man, that's a solid run right there.

Scorch, I did talk my wife into not missing me on Friday. The kids and I are going to go and do the 5 mile group run and eat some waffles. I'll probably wind up spending too much money at the big sale and get in trouble afterwards, but it'll be worth it. hah

Waffles and nutella eh? I've never tried it that way.

Since the marathon, just an easy 9+6+7 = 22.

Yesterday I started reading up on forefoot running - I have a few friends that all do it and are very mechanically efficient and fast. Just started looking over videos and articles on heel striking and it's impact on joints, yadda yadda. Needless to say I tried it for a 7 miler today...wow my calves are on fire! It took all my concentration to run that way and finally by the end felt somewhat natural.

Needless to say, have some new shoes on the way. My knees for once didn't crack or creak when I bent down and got up, which, they always do. Was a little shocked when I didn't hear the usual noise. I think it'll take some time getting used to, and with 2.5 weeks left until marathon #5, not sure I should try to be converting my running form right now, but I like the difference already. We'll see how my calves hold up during the 8 mile Turkey Trot tomorrow.
