Good job jmebonner, that's your first PR. How'd you feel in the race and did you enjoy the experience?

I felt pretty good. Caught a cold on Wednesday, but it hadn't moved to my chest so I don't think it affected me much. I might could have pushed a tiny bit more and cleared 27 minutes, but I'm totally fine with the entire thing, I never walked.

It was a great experience, very fun! I'm running another in Arkansas on 6/26 and plan to keep working on my time this summer :)

+7 on some very nice trails I just found. I don't think I can go back to sidewalk pounding again. Also I ran faster on the trails for some reason - I think barreling down the downhills helps me stay moving faster throughout.

Ran a 12-mile trail race this morning. Decided that 12 miles wasn't long enough or challenging enough so I decided to take the scenic route and add on about 2 miles. Whoops!

Sounds like you have enough info to fine tune your performance next time out. Most importantly it sounds like you had fun which IMHO is THE reason for running/racing.

I hate to do the broken record thing, but have you considered trails? The VHTRC is a premier running club and they are all about trails.

Actually I do enjoy running on trails, and I'd like to do it more often. The trick is finding some close to home. I live inside the DC beltway so this area is pretty much all built up. There's actually a really scenic bike trail near my house where I do a lot of my running, but its paved of course.

Thanks for mentioning the VHTRC , I skimmed their website and they're located in northern VA so that might be a place to find out about actual trails around NOVA.

7 miles today. The deerflies were no where near my trails and the temperature and humidity were much lower. I am not sure why, but I feel better now than I did before my last race. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to do well on July 3rd.

Did another 5 tonight, had to cut my run short to visit my son's school for an IB award ceremony. The low point: it was on the roads near my house. The high point: I was able to run fast again. I don't understand why I rebounded after Sehgahunda so well, but I'm sure happy about it.

InflatableBuddha awards ceremony? I know he's a good runner and all round cool guy, but an entire ceremony?...
Nice.

IB actually stands for International Baccalaureate, but as I'm lazy I was hoping to get by with IB...

10 miles each the last 3 days. Doubled Monday and today, and ran a solid 10 at 6:37 pace yesterday. Whoo boy do I feel it today though! May have to wear my calf sleeves to this appointment with the wedding baker now!

I did 4 tonight on the treadmill after doing my strength workout. Running everyday seems to agree with me, I think I can up my weekly mileage more safely this way.

First time on AT in about 2 months...oh how things have changed. :) Not even going to attempt to calculate my mileage...the only person I've kept up with is Megatomic on Facebook. What a beast :) Glad to see some of the same faces (Scorch, Buddha) and some new ones around too :)

Started training for Chicago...a nice 7 mile fartlek this AM

+5 miles over the past 3 days

Haven't ran in a while because of a leg injury. Slowly building up my pace before I tackle longer runs.

welcome back RB! What are you shooting for in Chicago?

I did a nice easy 10 on the trails at Mendon Ponds today. Beautiful day for a run.

RB - welcome back! I really only come to AT now for this forum and this thread specifically. What training plan are you following for Chicago?

fatpat268 - how's it going. Welcome to the thread. What's your running history? Road or trails? Long or short distance?

scorch - it must be nice to have Mendon Ponds Park in your backyard. What a great place to run.

I did 8 miles at Catharine Valley today. My son actually managed to keep up with me today, he's finally recovering from our trail marathon almost 2 weeks ago. And he's gotta be ready for the BIG dance on July 3rd... Confidence is not high but our hopes are.
