Meh, the decline of the American Empire started with the beginning of the Cold War. When economic prowess and ingenuity gave way to raw militarism in spreading American influence abroad, the fate of the empire was sealed. Empires need to make money at being empires to survive. Once the cost of growing/maintaining the empire exceeds the benefits, the empire is finished though it may take a very, very long time to die.

I heard it said must be 15-20 years ago maybe that America was a singular instance of an empire in that empires have an ascendancy, then a period of sustained glory and then the decline, but that in America's instance, the period of sustainment never occurred and the decline was well underway.

The problem with America is there wasn't enough immigration. Too many backwards white people have too much power due to the senate and the electoral college.

There are countries like Canada that don't have much trouble integrating other cultures. The issue is American bigotry refusing to embrace other cultures, not integration.

Besides, if you haven't noticed, all us humans share the same planet and can't stay isolated forever. If we're going to advance as a species we need to know how to work together, not hide from each other.

If you could draw a line from Pheonix to Spokane and that became the new left coast, the nation would be about 90% better.
