Uhh yeah, what we need is another Bush....

Cain Says ‘We Need a Leader, Not a Reader’
By SUSAN SAULNY
NASHUA, N.H. – Herman Cain began his stump speech at a rally here today with one of his signature lines: “Aw, shucky ducky!” he said. “I feel good today.”

But for someone who professed to be in high spirits, Mr. Cain spent a lot of time in his speech on the defensive, making especially pointed commentary against “the liberals” and “my competitors” for “all the junk they’ve thrown at me over the last two weeks.”

“Some people want to convict me in the court of public opinion,” he said, an oblique reference to the accusations of sexual harassment against him from the 1990’s that were recently revealed. “But the people on the Cain train don’t get off because of that crap.”

Then he added: “Who knows every detail of every country or every situation on the planet? Nobody!”

“We’ve got plenty of experts,” he said. “We need a leader, not a reader.”

The crowd responded with chants of “Amen!” and “Yes, we Cain.”

What we need is another gullible "leader" willing to take on a project for a new American century....

It seems all you have to do is speak and dress well these days to be President. A nice nest egg of cash with plenty of corporations to fill the coffers doesn't hurt. IMO this guy is a douchbag and shows his ignorance proclaiming leadership over knowledge.

Uze-beki-beki-beki-stan!

It still blows me away that conservatives revel in their own ignorance.

WE DON'T NEED NONE OF THAT FANCY PANTS BOOK LEARNIN' YEEE HAW! *shoots guns in air* - Every Republican ever.

Mr. Cain needs to realize we need a true statesman at the helm and not a sloganeering salesman. He is more of the latter than the former.

Who was it that said we have 57 states?

Nobody revels in your ignorance.

I like how a clear verbal misstep is somehow equal to an aggressive rejection of knowledge to you.

Seriously. Fuzzybee, you dumbass, the very fact that you conflate a simple gaffe to a conservative culture that celebrates ignorance makes you look really really stupid.

FuzzyBee

If you actually equate a simple slip of the tongue with a declaration that amounts to "the President really doesn't have to know anything", then you are truly part of the problem with this country.

He's playing to the hardcore GOP/Teaparty base, where strongly held opinions should not be tempered by facts and ignorance is deemed a virtue. God help America.

Yeah, because there are no Conservative scholars anywhere. Nope, not a one. 🙄

That's a lot closer to the truth than you'd like to realize. What there is is a lot of money waiting to reward sellouts, and a few crappy take it, and a few ideologues.

For example, Alan Greenspan was a 'great world-class economic expert', nicknamed 'the Maestro' for his incredible ability, until the truth finally came out.

If you haven't read the chapter on him in Matt Taibbi's book "Griftopia", you should before you comment on Greenspan. It's titled 'the biggest asshole in the universe'.

So all of the conservative engineering, history, chemistry, biology, and political science majors/grad students/professionals I personally know don't exist. Got'cha.

Being part of a culture that celebrates ignorance does not mean that there are not educated people in it. It simply means that the culture prizes ignorance. Considering the crop of candidates that the GOP has turned out in recent years and their explicit campaigning on this ignorance, I'm pretty comfortable with that characterization.

It's not like this forum is the first place to notice this, it has been an enduring complaint about the GOP for years.

Yes, all those 'conservative chemists' are sure 'conservative' in that field, explains all the conservative chemistry planks in the Republican platform.

This Cain guy has used phrases from many sources...this comes from the Simpsons, I believe and his 9 9 9 is from a game "Sim City" and "brother from another mother" is from a movie... etc...

It is a rather brilliant patch work quilt of phrases... His stuff is quite interesting and he pulls it together with out a large staff... That is amazing! I wonder how many actually see the subtle way he puts stuff together... He is not Presidential but he's not stupid.... IMO...

Them liberls and their books, they think they so smart. And look where their learnins done got us? Nowhere, damn it! 's time, doggone it, that we go get ourselves a true leader, somebody know how get stuff done, yessir! Not some ole' suit wearin mumbo jumbo fancy man with them there letters after his name and don't got no understandin' uh how we do things in the real world!

Whatever. I'm sure they give even less of a shit about you.

In any case, I'll take my personal experience over the reading list of someone who quotes himself in his forum sig and is happy with the implication that he thinks all "true intellectuals" are liberals. 🙄 Your logic is that of a Kindergartner, it shows to everyone on this forum, and the saddest thing is you probably couldn't comprehend that if you tried.
