In my experience, you don't have to re-format the hard drive. Just keep all the drivers disk(s) handy when they are needed during computer reboots. But I found re-format and fresh Windows installation gave better stability if you don't like to modify Windows' registers.
There are posts on www.amdzone.com forum about MS-5185 board and K6-3+ CPU. It seems Uarts' "L1 control program" (http://www.geocities.com/liamsay/) can make K6-3+ work properly on MS-5185 motherboard by activating the L1 cache.
Is there anyone using K6-3+ on Epox MVP4M microATX motherboard ?
The board is based on VIA MVP4 chipset. Epox tech support told me that mobil CPUs are not supported. However, their web site does show the latest BIOS supports K6-2+.

This board was from a Compaq computer. It's a microATX super 7 board using SIS530 chipset with 1 ISA/3 PCI/3 DIMMs.

On the last ISA slot it says:
Compaq Computer Corp.
<barcode>
M9084
Then under the floppy channel it says:
<barcode>...
In the 5400 rpm hard drives I have: Western Digital, Maxtor, Seagate, and IBM, only WD drives works well under 37.5MHz PCI bus. Seagate can run a while but not reliable. Maxtor and IBM just refuse to boot. Not sure about new models.
I started using Freewwweb right after they started a few years ago. As of last night, it was still working fine in St. Louis, Missouri area. Their e-mail system was not stable though.
