    Windows XP Pro OEM Paradox......

Shawn, You apparently don't know the difference between the Pro and Home versions of XP, both of which are available as OEM. Start here for that lesson. (What you described is more of a difference between OEM and Corporate/Volume Licensed versions...)

    Windows XP Pro OEM Paradox......

No, you are being fed a big line here. Reinstall fine. Worst case, when you go to activate, if it fails, use the toll-free number and call it in. Simply explain that you upgraded your system.

XP on a Novell network: single login

Have a mjor client that has a large Novell network, and wants to transition from Win98 to Xp Pro. The issue we are running into is that they want a single login (which the Novell Client says it supports)..but also for a user, anywhere on the network, to login without having to sync/create...

    Windows 2000 admin password

3 ways: 1. If formatted FAT32, boot off floppy and browse C:\ to winnt\system32\config. Delete SAM. Reboot and admin password set to blank. 2. If formatted NTFS, take HD and slave into another Win2k or XP Pro system to do the above. 3. Otherwise, as noted, reinstall!

WinXP -- swapping MB, Chip, RAM -- workable?

To anser original post, it's very workable. I had to do an emergency motherboards swap on my work system Saturday--went to power on...and nothing. After checking everything, determined MB just died... To be safe, after the swap, I booted into Safe Mode with Networking (in case drivers were...

Quickie! How many clients can connect to Win2k PRO?

Sorry..."clients" specifically refer to log-ons to a "server" that establish permissions, etc. (thus the client-server relationship). Connections are the simultaneous use of resources for Win2k, XP Pro, etc...and the limit is 10. Depending on what is being accessed, though, seriously look at...

    XP Profiles

Is it possible (and if so, how), to create a profile in XP that will only allow certain programs to be run? Scenario is this: my 2-year old daughter (ok, not quite 2...in 2 weeks) is an Internet fiend, and I'd like to restrict her account further so that she can run IE and Paint and not much...

What 3DMark score should I expect?

Home system (see profile) is a P3-800EB on an Asus P3V4X with 512 Megs Ram. WinXP Pro. Video is a Visiontek Geforce2 GTS w/64 Megs DDR Ram. Latest Detonators, VIA 4-in-1 and AGP drivers. Board, from other things I've read, has a problem with running 4X AGP, so with that set at 2X, what kind...

any way to run DOS programs in win2k?

Depends on the program. At work, our POS program is from an old version of FoxPro, and we have it running on Win2k and XP. There's some configuring with the CONFIG.NT that I have to do, but that's about it.

    Windows XP can't do.....

Seems to be another example of Microsoft being the scapegoat for somebody's lack of knowledge. XP has been faster than 2k on my machine in almost everything...and especially so on the Internet. And that's even with 32 bit video at 1024x768! (See system specs for home system--it's nothing...
