No offense, but you guys just aren't reading my post. I've tried reinstalling Windows w/the XP disc. I've changed the boot order in BIOS several times. Please read my post carefully before responding with something like "Just put the XP disc in and boot up." C'mon, man, READ.

I was under the impression that for the memory to be recognized as dual-channel the sticks had to be exactly the same (manf., amount, etc.). So this ISN'T the case?

Well I figured out what the problem was finally. Turns out it was "dirty" power from the barracks I'm staying in. I got a surge protector that has an RFI/EMI filter in it and everything works fine now. Dirty/noisy power source can cause all sorts of hellacious and strange things to happen...
